It might be best putting more detail in your original post and dropping the word "desperately".... Sounds like you have a particular spec in mind. 6k doesn't buy much of a 205 GTi in good nick these days.

Son bought car from Big Pete who used it on lanes.
Engine running stripped out inside. new battery new gear selector rods. Welding needed to boot floor. Shouldn't take much to put on road again. Need water pump.
