Hi folks

Need a hand if possible. Car threw a fault yesterday, Drivetrain error. Car went into limp mode but was only a mile from home. Came home turned off and on and issue was away.

Left it off to my mechanic this morning to see if it logged any codes. It did. From memory he said something about it being an intermittent error and the wastegate and wiring was mentioned. I’m sure it was more technical than that but that’s what I remember. He cleared the faults and will check again in a couple of days.

Anyone here have any knowledge on this? I haven’t a clue about any of it. Should I be worried etc.

Car is only 3 years old. M135i.

Cheers for any help here

Likely wastegate not closing properly.
May need adjusting or replaced.

No idea tbh!

Ive just heard of owners having wastegate rattle in their cars.

Apparently some have had a software update for optimisation of the turbo/wastegate.

Others have replaced turbos.

I know for some bmw petrols you can get unofficial wastegate repair kits. Unsure if your era has them.
