Modern injectors can easily cost big numbers, and does it really need all 4 ?

Just depends whether they are dealer only, if anyone else makes them, whether you can get re-con...or indeed if they are even a popular item.

But £200, 300 each would not be uncommon. And some engine designs are so ****ing ***** the injectors seize into the head and can break off in the head when you try and remove them, opening up another huge can of worms. There are guys who specialise in removing them if they break, in other extreme cases it will require the head off, and perhaps even another cylinder head.

So depends whether some of that price is covering their ass, or just typical expensive dealer prices.

A quick google brings this up for a re-con....whether a re-con is the best option or not again could be debated. Either way, definitely get a second opinion, maybe a 3rd.

Hyundai i40 1.7 Crdi Bosch Reconditioned Diesel Injector - 338002A960, Specialist Diesel Injection Services Ltd.

There is a guy in Lurgan who can test some injectors, or there is another place in Armagh who can do all sorts of testing/repairs/source parts. Cant recall their name though

As Stevie said I thought £200-£300 per injector was the norm. Yikes. No wonder they are getting done away with.

I didn't think you'd have to be replacing all 4 either, unless your fuel pump, you know... :worried:

How many miles on the car out of curiosity?

I have just had one of mine done with a genuine (used) replacement, the original was seized and broke on removal attempt, but the total bill was £110 including a used injector - for that money there was simply no way I was going to attempt it myself

I've just had to buy a new injector for my caddy this week.

Cost me £240 for it from TBF Thompson. VW were almost twice the price.

Apparently the Siemens injectors mine uses can't be refurbed properly. If they could have I would have likely had all 4 done.

TBF do refurb some so they may be worth a call. Davey in injection is the man to speak to in there

It's a common fault on the VW 1.6 engine so something I'm gonna have to accept.

1 injector is leaking and I was only gonna do all 4 as i didnt want to put in a fresh injector working at full pressure and leave the other ones cause i assumed they could be working at a lower pressure due to carbon buildup etc. I have 53k on it its a 2011 car.

Like others, I don't think there is any need to replace all 4. You'd need to talk to a mechanic/diesel specialist though to confirm that.
