Between them those two must have been in every team on the grid a few times over, plus a few teams no longer there :innocent:

Will be interesting to see what Paddy leaving does at Mercedes. Allison should do a good job too though.

Not likely to have a great impact with regards to the 2017 car, as its probably well developed by now, but maybe the 2018/9 cars.

Paddy will have his work cut at Williams.

At Monaco it should be mandatory that they keep the racecars at home and send the whole grid out in identical smart cars. It has never been a good watch.
Would be a few chicanes missed due to understeer lol

Last year wasn't bad in comparison to some other years.

They do build special cars for Monaco anyway so they might as well use smart cars :grinning:

Manor will essentially be running the 2016 car this year, if someone stumps up the money to keep them going. Already secured an exception to do so. So they will basically be so slow it will be like having the safety car permanently on circuit...
On tighter circuits, eg Monaco that will make the `train` even slower (n)

Hard to see why anyone would put in the money this time round, they would just be trundling around even further back.

No word on the engine.

I know some think of Manor as some sort of modern day Hesketh - the plucky underdog and all that. But Hesketh were more like RB. They had the money, and put together the means to be competitive. Manor just make up the numbers.

Look at Haas to see what is possible even with a half decent effort and a customer car. And they needed no exemptions, they have not gone routinely bust at the end of every season, etc.

We need more Haas, not Manor.

Hesketh were a 100 times ahead of Manor.
I think they may have lost a lot of money on the Hesketh motorcycle.
Those where the days......

Hesketh had James Hunt, even before they built the 308 he was making the old bangers they had go well and the 308 was no great car by any means. Admittedly Lauda getting grilled basically gifted him the championship, but he was a super driver, if he had stayed off the booze birds and drugs he could have been amazing. Hesketh had a lot of money but it wasn't limitless, Red Bull have probably more available funding than anyone else on the grid. Ever. A few bad seasons won't mean anything to them as long as people keep necking the stuff.

Haas don't have that sort of talent in their line up either, two solid drivers but no superstar.

Looks like Bottas to Mercedes is certain, Williams are saying it is just a matter of finalising contracts. A good move for everyone, plus he should be able to challenge Lewis as well.

Nothing confirmed about who will replace Bottas at Williams.

Nearly sure it will be Massa.

Nice to see Bottas given a go at Mercedes, hope he does well.

Looks like most circuits will have to be upgraded for safety, with the new cars predicted to be as much as 40kph faster through some corners.

Whether the actual racing will be any better remains to be seen, but these cars are shaping up to be proper beasts. Maybe up there with the old Turbo-era cars?
