Hi syecadelic,

It's still neddy i'm afraid.

All of our available scheme Insurers can offer this cover, but it is only available for drivers aged 25 or over.

Kind regards

Tony

Do any of the underwriters now offer Fully Comprehensive with 3rd party extension to drivers ages 21-24? Or is this still a Nedy no no?

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the comments in relation to myself, your sentiments are gratefully appreciated.

Our available scheme Insurers have had an aversion to some rear wheel drive models, particularly where they are comparatively expensive to repair and where the driver has not had consistent rear wheel drive experience.

However, we have added a further Underwriter to our panel in March who will cover RWD models with progressive driving experience (but do not require this to have been earned upon a rear wheel drive model). They look at customer circumstance in a more individual, bespoke way than some of the other Underwriters that we deal with (which may be why they cover 3/4 of the mainland Footballers).

We've strengthened our range of available Insurers in order to cater for the good risks that we have been missing out on and the purpose of this post was to detail some of the areas that we have greater flexibility within.

Kind regards

Tony

Tony has been helpful with looking at quotes I have done, however the company are still providing laughable quotes!

Hi Mark,

There's some good news with regard to you and other members in a similar situation who drive non-abi recognised vehicles.

Whilst we have been lobbying for this for some time now and with effect from today can confirm that our negotiations have paid off, we now have schemes live that can cater for Japanese imported (and other Non-ABI recognised) models.

We're painfully aware that we've been missing out on some great risks and can only apologise for this situation, but happily I can now confirm that the non-ABI/Japanese import section of Greenlight is up and running.

We have listed an alternative specific thread to make this more visible: http://www.reallymeansounds.com/for...s-and-non-abi-listed-vehicles-at-last.135549/

Many thanks for bearing with us..

Kind regards

Tony

Hi ali619,

The only model of Nissan that we are unable to cover is the 200sx, which is excluded by all of our scheme Underwriters due to consistently poor claims experience.

We can cover most other Nissan models, which amongst others include:

Nissan 350z
Nissan Fairlady z
Nissan Skyline
Nissan 300zx
Nissan Pulsar/GTi-R

Still don't cover any RWD Nissan's :worried:

With effect from today, we can also cater for the non-ABI recognised Japanese import models.

Kind regards

Tony

Hi Gaz,

We can cover most vintage/classic car models (including MGB, Triumph, Austin, Morris, Jensen, Reliant, VW Beetle/Fastback, Mini models).

In addition, we are also able to cover quite a few of earlier hot hatch models, including Mk1/2 Golf GTi, Renault 5 GT, Ford Escort RS1600i (in standard or lightly modified format).

The basic rule of thumb for acceptance under classic car schemes will be that the model is regularly featured within the classic car press, it will have to be a 2nd car that is kept off road and has a limited mileage requirement.

You can apply online at www.greenlightinsurance.co.uk or by calling our dedicated team on 01277 376000.

Kind regards

Tony

Hi tony. Do you or any of your sister companies offer insurance on vintage vehicles?

Hi purplea4T,

Whilst the MK1 Octavia VRS was excluded under our schemes due to a poor claims experience.

We had consistently poor results on the Fabia and Octavia models for 3 concurrent years, which led to our Underwriters refraining from offering terms.

From what I recall it wasn't a theft problem, fire problem or malicious damage.

It was purely down to accidents relating to drivers being unable to stop, including swerving off road to avoid hitting other vehicles in the rear. The trend was braking related and was similar to vehicles with non-ABS braking.

The Octavia VRS from 2009 onward is something that we can look to cover, plus with the value of the original models being significantly lower than when we first covered the Mk1 VRS models we can refer to Underwriters for special dispensation where your individual risk circumstances support.

If you can PM me your actual name, postcode and client reference (or date of birth) along with details of the Octavia VRS (including Year, Value, any modifications, transmission, specific model/engine) I can look at a bespoke referral to Underwriters for you.

Kind regards

Tony

I'm in the same boat with the Octavia vrs, something to do with excessive claims in relation to these apparently? If that's the case, I'm sorry to say I'm happy taking business elsewhere:/

Hi Ace,

With effect from today, the non-ABI recognised vehicle schemes that we have been working upon went live and we're happy to say that we can cater for these models now.

We're really pleased about this, as we've been missing out upon some great customers over the years due to systems related issues.

If you'd like me to refresh a previous application, id be happy to do so. Alternatively, next time that you need cover simply call our telephone team on 01277 376000.

Kind regards

Tony

I got a quote of 1k last year, but they wouldnt quote this year at all

Rang yourselves today and was for changing

Unfortunatly paying the full amount up front isnt something I can do, and it'd be a while before I could do it via the finance option with the deposit

Shame really as i've always paid for my insurance via direct debit each month!

I last had insurance with yourselves last year on a focus RS mk2. When I bought the Leon I was basically told to beat it as it wasn't a performance car.

If I was to buy another focus RS would you be in the position to offer a decent quote, bearing in mind that I've had evo's, the focus and the vxr nurburgring edition all insured with you in the past?

Hi Andy,

Thanks for taking the time to post.

Our Underwriters are geared to covering performance, modified and classic cars. But we can often run standard non-performance cars until the end of the policy, this is usually at the original terms of the performance car policy.

Talking specifically about the Focus Rs mk2. We've been covering the Focus RS mk2 since it's launch, but it's came to a point now due to theft and total losses through "hero" driving that we will not be looking for any new business with this model. Mainly due to our Underwriters paying out in excess of 9x what we receive in premiums right now (ie for every £100 in premium received we're paying out £900+).

There is absolutely no commercial viability in writing the MK2 right now and our Underwriters are stinging from the losses they're receiving with the model, meaning that if we can source terms they will not be under any preferentially rated schemes.

Your previous performance car driving experience will be really helpful, but the longer the gap since owning your last performance car will have an impact upon the available markets and our ability to provide competitive rates.

When you've a specific idea as to what you're after (and with us already holding your details) calling our telephone team on 01277 376000 to update your details and discuss your options (and full prior performance experience) would be the best way to go.

Kind regards

Tony

Hi Ace,

If you don't mind me running a review to look into the factors that have hampered our ability to quote, i'd be happy to do so.

Simply PM me your actual name, postcode and client/quote reference (or date of birth) and i'll be able to look into this for you.

Kind regards

Hi Gaz,

We don't usually cover trucks/lorry's but with this being a vintage model we may be able to do something for you.

If you can PM me the make, model, engine size, year and value of the vehicle - this will enable me to get our technical team to refer this to Underwriters before making a full application.

Kind regards

Tony

Hi Deezer-D,

Having just checked, I can confirm that BT5 is back in business.

There had been a block upon this area for new business last year, but the area warning has recently been downgraded and we are able to offer quotations within the area again.

So it's good news on the BT5 front.

Kind regards

Tony

Is BT5 still blacklisted?
