Hi Jok,

As discussed, here's our list of imported model vehicles that we are able to cover.

We have also recently expanded to cover Nissan Skyline models, so i've updated the list of vehicles to reflect this.

Kind regards

Tony

Hi Tony, PM'd you on Jon44 before about covering my Nova Turbo.

I've a Full NCB on my current daily car, and noticed your able to shadow/mirror no claims discount.

So if I insure my Nova turbo with you next year when its finished, its great to know you'll be able to do me a good deal on my daily car too.

Is there an age restriction to your shadowed/mirrored NCB? I know its usually 25 and over with the likes of Zurich/Axa.

Hi Keith,

Providing that all drivers have a vehicle in their own name & meet our acceptance criteria, we can mirror NCB.

We purely cover performance/modified cars so both models would have to fit this criteria and you would have to be free of non-recoverable claims for the duration of the discount claimed.

Age wise - as long as you're 21+ you'd qualify for the scheme.

Kind regards

Tony

Hi Tony

I noticed that you don't cover the import-only Honda Integra DC5 due to no ABI code and/or lack of parts availability, but parts & servicing are readily available through Honda UK (parts for the DC5 are stored in Belgium and generally arrive with Honda UK dealerships within 1-2 days). So is your reason for declining cover on these vehicles solely due to the lack of an ABI code? If so, what do other insurance companies that do cover this vehicle do?

Thanks

Gary

Hi Gaz/Dave/Everyone,

The Association of British Insurers set the benchmark for Industry Standard data (central source/database) and provide schedules of information to assist all UK Insurers in area's that they can pool data & do not compete - Which includes vehicle categorisation and groupings.

All Vehicles of UK origin are grouped by the ABI and most UK Insurers use this as the template to base their own groupings upon prior to building their own individual experience of the particular vehicle.

Insurance operating systems (computer systems) also rely upon the ABI Databases to build and update their systems.

Thus if a vehicle isnt listed/recognised by the ABI, unless an Insurer has a facility to transact business manually or upon a bespoke system (designed for their own purpose) they will be unable to cover the vehicle.

Our current operating system and products use ABI standards, thus until proposed dump codes are released (later this year) or the Japanese import DC5/DC2 models are recognised we are currently unable to offer quotations for these models.

Just to clarify, from a Greenlight perspective the DC5 does represent a vehicle that we would look to Insure and will do so as soon as the ABI include this model to their listing.

Kind regards

Tony

Hi PJS,

Ive just checked the ABI group listing through the link above, but the JDM Civic Type R FD2 isnt specifically listed - which means most Insurers will currently be unable to offer a quotation.

The only imported CTR currently ABI listed is a 1595cc (ek9) model.

They really need to get their act together as the DC2, DC5 Integra & CTR FD2 are exactly the type of cars that we would love to cover - the only current restriction is I.T. related.

We'll continue to lobby them to include these vehicles & I'll post on here as soon as the situation changes.

Kind regards

Tony

Hi Tony, just wondering if you could clear something up, you have at the start of this topic that Integra DC2 imports has been extended for cover, but only a couple of months later in this thread its mentioned that Greenlight cant... How come things changed so quickly???
Hi All,

Following a period of due diligence, along with a decent claims performance in general within the province since August 2006 - we are now able to extend our core scheme to cover the following models:

MODELS to coverHonda Integra - DC2 models - Cover all

Then coming back to this point about ABI listing, there is an Integra DC2 listed, is this the UK model just???

Any plans for extending cover to an Audi S3, imported from Germany? Was turned down last year on account of it being imported.

SCHEME UPDATE - Imported vehicles

Scheme update - Imported vehicles

We are please to announce that with immediate effect we have expanded our acceptance criteria to include the following models on a pilot basis, with a view to tracking performance.

Subaru
ALL Models - WEF 15/9/2008 Piloting ALL ABI listed performance Subaru models (Parts availability/no support from manufacturer resulted in previous exclusion)

To qualify for cover for an imported Subaru Impreza model, all required drivers' are to be aged 23+ with a Full UK Licence for at least 36 months. They must also have proven driving experience (in your own name) of driving/Insuring a high performance model vehicle for at least the last 12 months prior to requiring cover. The policyholder must have earned at least 2 years NCB in their own name.

Mitsubishi Lancer EVO - WEF 15/9/2008 Piloting All ABI recognised perfromance models (Poor historic claims experience - single vehicle accidents & theft claims resulted in previous exclusion)

To qualify for cover for a UK/imported Mitsubishi Lancer EVO model, all required drivers' are to be aged 25+ with a Full UK Licence for at least 36 months. They must also have proven driving experience (in their own name) of driving/Insuring a high performance model vehicle for at least the last 12 months prior to requiring cover. The policyholder must have earned at least 2 years NCB in their own name.

We have had poor historic experience with both the imported Subaru Impreza and Mitsubishi Lancer EVO models and had excluded them for in excess of 3 years now, but we do recognise as a performance vehicle specialist that these are the type of vehicle that we are looking to cover and having tracked the issues that resulted in the exclusion 3 years ago and following a period of re-assessment in the current climate (ie lower values, improved parts availability) we are prepared to test the water by reinstating for pilot purposes.

With this in mind we have assessed the issues that were the root of the problem and will be looking to impose terms accordingly (ie Tracking device where theft is a problem, performance model driving experience) for this pilot.

Should the pilot be succesful we will look to reinstate these models on a longer term basis.

Kind regards

Tony

Hi Graham,

With effect from today we have reinstated the ABI recognised imported Subaru Impreza models in addition to tentatively reinstating the Lancer EVO models (both UK/imported).

It's been over 3 years since we wrote a new business case for each of these models and times have moved on, which is why we are looking to pilot these models with the benefit of what we have learned from our prior experience coupled with reduced vehicle values & better parts availability in the current climate.

We hope this will be a welcome addition that can continue for the longer term.

Kind regards

Tony

Hi Bronk,

We do wish to cover DC2 and DC5 imported models, but the sole reason that we cant currently is that the Association of British Insurers does not recognise the vehicle model.

The knock on effect of this is that we are unable to correctly list the vehicle upon Greenlight's, our Insurers and the Motor Insurers database respective systems.

We're advocates for the cars, but need the ABI to recognise the vehicle to be able to administer the vehicle correctly.

This will be the same with all Insurers/Brokers adopting the ABI standards or an ABI compliant operating system.

We do intend to cover these models at some stage, but this will require specific IT development relating purely to Non-ABI listed vehicles and having just endured 15 months of hell courtesy of I.T. problems this is not going to be something that we will have in place in the short term.

Alternatively, if the ABI can be lobbied to add the models to their listing this would then allow us to cover the vehicles sooner.

Kind regards

Tony

Hi Pablo,

Long time no speak.

We can cover all Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution models, providing all drivers are aged 25+ have decent NCB levels and if they havent owned/ran/Insured the car for the last 12 months would have to have proven driving experience of a high performance car for a minimum of the 12-18 months before purchase of the EVO.

Kind regards

Tony
