Nah to much hassle for a daily IMHO.

Yeah I agree. But doubt you would use it but i changed mine to a 95 unleaded and 20% methanol mix. The difference was night and day compared the 'super' over here.

How do you go about running that? In terms of logistics I mean. Do you fill up at the pump by a certain amount of litres and then add the meth when you get home or how do you go about it? Do you know roughly what the cost works out per tank or litre then too?

Goes by your tank size so mine was 50 litres, so I ran 40 litres fuel to 10 litres of methanol and as it wasn't used a daily I just always ran 10% mix. Once I ran low I just threw 5 litres of methanol in and drove to the fuel station to throw 20 litres in and that was it. Simple! Bit more methanol won't do it any harm in fact left it safer.

Methanol worked out at £1.25 a litre, that was last year now.

Best way to do it is like in the Mondeo and Escort. They have separate tanks for meth injection. Don't know if you've seen them or not?

Yeah I've had a poke around them in the cars but had wondered if other folk just did it the same way as above too

If your running them kits make sure they have a fail safe on them, aquamist seems the best about but different kits available just all depends on budget

Go, topaz and texaco would be only SUL worth regarding actual higher RON, using BP ultimate is like using normal UL

@bludgod has logged/mapped plenty of subarus and seen the varying fuel quality to reliably comment

I only use texaco sul, was always comber as they get a weekly delivery so knew it'd be fresh then recently switched to Dundonald texaco as it's brand new tanks, fresh delivery and beside my house

Dundonald Texaco is probably where I'll start going. I used Maxol there across from Asda before.

So what did we decide is the best SUL ?

BP
Sainsbury
Maxol
Texaco
..
..
.

I have been told numerous times that Subarus don't like BP , yet I've one within a mile either side of my house that are always bunged. Tried Maxol once but car did not like it (well , I think it was the fuel). I currently use Texaco in Comber as I'm there once a week and I heard it's good. But the availability of BP appeals to me.

Any one companies Super isn't going to be better than the next they all have to meet various regulations and are tested, it'll all be down to the individual garage and how much Super they turn over. More the merrier for our cars, so IMO your best to pick a busy garage.
