Dear God. Wouldn’t take a 50cc moped he’s worked on to the end of the street let alone a litre bike round a track at 150mph. If he was my friend he would be told with very choice language not to lift a spanner to a bike again before he kills somebody.
There is a massive difference between someone who ‘tinkers’ and someone who actually builds and mechanically prepares bikes.
He built and prepared his own race bikes but had a serious accident leaving him paralyzed down one side, I think he misjudged the job he took on and got his son to do all the bits and pieces around it. Water under the bridge for me, he's plenty of knowledge but as it transpires, the physical ability is lacking. I'm confident it is all corrected now so that's all that matters.
Anyway, just finished prepping my wife's bike for MOT... This thing lay outside for 6 years before I got it, then was either stashed in a shed or under a cover till I started tinkering with it this year.
New carb, throttle and clutch cable, battery, caliper seal kit, big clean and a bit of polishing and the bargain of the year now looks like this:
