Is it a new or second hand car you are buying?

Yea its a 2007 M6 I'm looking at. The dials are £100 online, not sure who would fit them though as BMW labour rates would be harsh. The VRT is about ~£2500.

He has to charge the VRT as it's built into the price, but it can be claimed back as he said.
It will take about 3 months, and car has to be registered within 30 days of it's export examination. Unless the car is a lot cheaper in the first place, I wouldn't be holding my breath on it, take it as a bonus if you get it!

I'm being stupid here I know, you mean needs to be registered in N.I. with the DVLA, within 30 seconds of the MOT?

To claim the VRT back, it has to be registered in NI within 30 days of its export examination.
The export examination in theory should be done the day you buy it, but what I would advise is, get the car, apply for your certificate of conformity from BMW, MOT the car. When you have all in your hand, then I would book your export examination, so you can then post everything off to Swansea to get it registered here. Its almost certain to be returned over something silly, so at least if everything is ready to go, you aren't wasting time trying to get car MOT'd etc.

If you can get an address in England, use it. Don't actually need the car insured to register it. Much easier to insure it when registered.

Have one all sorted man. Waiting on my new license to arrive. Rang axa ni today and they told me I didn't but I thought I needed to send off a certificate of insurance away to the dvla to register the car

If registering to an NI address you will need a certificate, if England they don't check it! Have done a few this way recently, much easier!

What you mean a certificate? I'm from the south but living in the north but have the car registered to my parents house in the south should I register it to my northeen address?

Are you trying to register the car in the North? You will need to use a Northern address to do that. If using an NI address you will have to send a certificate of insurance when sending off your registration paperwork. If you can get an address on the mainland you wont have to insure it! Obviously you will need insurance to drive it, but once it is registered you can sort that out.

Sorry if I seem simple lol just a million things running through my head. I wouldn't have that option sadly so I'm out of luck then and have to take the hit haha

What's this certificate of confirmation? It's changed since I last done it, bought a southern reg car there and they mention in the list the certificate of confirmation, where does one get such thing also this NOVA thing I just read back there it's just something that needs to be filled in online and printed off?

Cheers (y)

Slightly off topic but Id never buy a car from down south. When you see the state of some of their cars its crazy. Cars that are only one and two years old and wrecked already.

Certificate of conformity comes from the car manufacturer direct.

The odd time
Nova is ,notification of vehicle arrival.

Only need the certificate of conformity if it's less than 10 years old. Otherwise a mot on chassis number is all. Yes do the nova process and print off the result showing no duty is due.

I did sort a car for a chap on here that was less than 10 years old. Certificate of conformity was obtained from the manufacturer for 100 quid or so I think.

Any the ones I brought were generally jap imports when you could get an absolute bargain 5 or so years ago. As did the rest of Europe, southern Ireland got vultured silly.

its only an 03 320d so all i need to do is go through the nova process online and print it off and i know the rest its just like before, someone already started the process it was mot'd in july on the chassis number so just give them that, proof of insurance, £55 fee and tax at the same time?

I sent originals George

Ps never send anything to dva as tracked or special delivery etc. I done this with my m3 v5 as I really didn't want to loose it and wanted it processed fast. and got proof of delivery etc but they lost it. I think once someone has to sign for it that it leaves the normal postal route within the building and ends up under big jim'a coffee mug at reception.

Its pot luck with them, I have had it lost both ways! They also failed tobsend me back the ROI logbook once when I hadn't included the correct certificate of conformity (it was labelled a statement, not certificate!), now that turned into a handling!
