This was my first timed run and I ran out of fuel Just before the last chicane so lost some time. But I then failed to record my next few runs... But it was another case of fuel surge and then a red flag for an issue so didn't matter!

Anicc website gives you the Calender for the year and then the msa website will allow you to access the blue book which define what class what car falls into etc.

Though going straight for the blue book regs might put you off !

I'd say best place to start is YouTube

Fire in kirkistown sprint and have a look at the wee compilation videos that kerney has done which will
Give you an idea of the wide and varied pieces of equipment that come out to play

From my turbo tin can hatch to @RickyMcG turbod fire breathing single seater and everything in between.

Lot of 205s saxo etc all great craic but yes some big hp Cars GTR/cosworths/subarus and turbo single seaters etc

A lot of the fastest cars are often the lightest aswell, Roger gage mini wouldn't be running much more than 100hp but it's completely mind bending through corners,

Great mix of machinery and a great day out especially if you bring a motor and a race suit.

Not in the road going classes you don't (class 1 and 2) but you do in all other classes (including a HANS device, fire extinguisher system etc). Road class doesn't require the car to have any safety requirements just a few stickers in certain places and a beam breaker.

I competed in the sprint back at the start of August which was my first one in years and really enjoyed it. Saw your car that day @PhilM , the noise was unreal!

I bought a 182 for use in class 2 at the start of the year but haven't had it out yet and I'm really having second thoughts about it now. I don't think it'll be competitive so I'm tempted to build something else instead...

One thing I noticed at the last sprint @PhilM was that you aren't running 888's or equivalent and most other cars in class 2 were - bound to be worth a bit of time especially in something as quick as the starlet!?

That's them but check regs on ANICC website as well, classes can be a bit different over here for example.

Do you need fia approved cage harness and seat?

What @PaulYDP said about sums it up.

Nothing required for roadgoing really.

But be careful cause for example striping your interior out and you wouldn't be eligible to run in road going.

I think the seat has to be in good condition but not in date. I'd imagine harness and cage has to be approved

Yes, everywhere bar roadgoing class.

You can run stock seats and no cage at all.

No two setups are the same, I'd say a 172/182 would be great with 888s so long as your brave enough to get towards their limit where you could have an advantage (handling/corners)

About the tyres - yes I lapped up these comments recently as a great excuse for anytime I under performed, but most of my issues were consistency related, and I'm ink getting more competitive as I get more consistent.

The toyo r1rs I was using (not to be confused with t1rs) are made using the same rubber as a medium comp 888. And with a road/wet compound they actually are pretty good during lap one.

Anyways I'm too fresh at this stuff to be able to say for certain how all the tyres relate to each other, I think until I've tried them on my car I can't be too sure just what they will do,

Especially since my setup promotes warm fronts and cool rears I may eventually run different compounds from and back.

But next up is trying to dial in tyre pressures

Yeah I agree with the 182 it would all be about carrying extra speed as would loose a lot in the straights. I'll have a think over the winter and hope to do something next year! I was out in August in my brothers Fiesta and it was certainly all about the handling, great craic even with not a lot of power!

Ahh I didn't realise it was R1R's, I didn't look closely it was just from a distance. R1R's are highly rated but still not going to match an 888 for sheer amount of rubber in contact with the track. I've only ever tracked 888's though so I can't really compare either!
