well well ,after years of looking for rocking horse **** i found the holly grail in the world of VTR hondas. drove all bloody day and brought home a very sad looking but very rare Spondon vtr.. looks kinda like a normal honda but that couldnt be further from the truth as its believed only 6 of these where ever produced between spondon, moriwaki and Revolution racing. how this one ended up in sunny Galway is anybodies guess.
its got the fully braced frame. spondon swingarm that wouldnt look outa place on a bridge. harris rear brake.pfm disc.proflex shock.and rare as oversize Dymag wheels.the quality of the spondon work on it is unreal in the swinger and frame work.

anyhow heres the sad thing i brought home tho its running fine so bonus. a long winter ahead.

well that gives me a lot to be getting on with. have to now start to source the missing parts like proper pipes and bodywork. i dont want it to end up like so many other garage queens and be a wasted bike, its to be used for the road and track days with a daytime mot so time to rip it to bits and get it ready for spring time.

My mate had an Egli / Morawaki that we picked up in Dublin. It was raced at Le Man.
Good job on saving it and good luck with the build.

Great find.
The mexicans do have a weird habit of taking a perfectly good motorcycle apart for no logical reason

been a shame to see it chopped up. a few boys had looked at it but didnt realise just what they were looking at, thankfully:p:p. there was 6 of them then 5 as one was lost track of. how it ended up in western Ireland god knows but its got a home now.

i was thinking that as it happens. havent made up my mind just yet. iv learnt the first few ran the firestorm forks in the British championship tho modded inside and going by the experts iv spoken to mine turns out to be one of the early bikes going by the bracing inside the frame. not sure yet but for looks id like a bigger front end on it and keep whats on it tucked away. iv a full blade front brake setup on my other one and its great. at some point the race brakes on the front have been robbed which is a shame but the rears still a harris .

you should polish the mid section on that frame so that all matches...

that mid section above the ears is cast on them and a bitch to polish. it will end up with carbon covers once i sell a kidney. iv found out anything with the name Moriwaki on it is silly dear, how about £1500 for a pair of carbs:scream:. if you can find them , im not looking lol

well after much homework and emails to the people who built these bikes. it just gets better. going by the spec of suspension and the bracing thats been done its one of the very early bikes that got developed by Russell Savoury and Mick Grand. the later 4 that Revolution racing used had different bracing and rear shocks in them so its getting narrowed down to a Savoury bike or a Dave Heal bike, both of which are ex British superbikes..

excuse me while my pants get tight here lol

A great project and the history adds another bit of excitement. A bit more hunting and you might be able to dig up some photos or video of it in all its glory. It will be interesting to hear more about the engine too.

the engines more or less standard bar trumpets, gass flowing ,ing advancer.flywheel and carb kit. the mori engine as such is long gone but if it was still in the bike i would have been looking figures in the teens.of thousands lol.

so as plan A was get it running and see what i really have i couldnt resist throwing on a set of high rise pipes i have.

There is a group on Facebook that is dedicated to Morawaki, if you need information etc it would be worth a look.
