US screens

was looking on ebay there at alpine screens ans they are cheaper than chips. would they work ok here, or is there any reason why the american ones would be different?

Make sure theyre PAL compatiable as the US uses the NTSC system for displaying pictures on TV screens.

see, i was thinking about the whole PAL banter. but if i was connecting it to a HU and say a tuner, would the PAL-ness, or lack of matter? what exactly does the PAL offer?

PAL is the type of system we use to display pictures on our screens. (IIRC Its the amount of columns displayed across the picture) Thus any UK picture, film, DVD, game etc is PAL as it has to work with our TV systems, so it will matter.

i think that saying .... if you product supports pal/ntsc ... then this is how to switch it between the two

As long as the screen is saying it is switcheable between PAL and NTSC it will play back UK formats.

If your getting a DVD player too, you will have to check the region for it as some are region locked.

nope, just a basic alpine screen. but its the only one which the external dimensions are small enough to fit exactly into an area i intend to mould it
