Anyone know how I can go about checking if a car has previously had VRT paid?
Going to advertise my car on DoneDeal and I know it's the first question every1 will ask.

Bumping this up.

Forester was registered in ROI and wanting to check if VRT has still been paid as quite a few people have asked already.

Is there an office I can ring with the old reg to check?

If it was previously registered in the south then VRT will have been paid and there will be no requirement to repay it

Just called one, they've let me know the car was never officially exported so by good chance id say the VRT hasnt been claimed back!

You can claim the VRT back again when exporting the vehicle

i thought you could only claim it back if you had a southern address to use
