Elfyn Evans testing 2017-spec Fiesta WRC over the weekend in Italy.



Evans is expected to replace Ött Tanak in the DMACK squad with Ött returning to the M-Sport team.

Where do the 3 VW boys slot into all this now? Heard over the weekend Malcolm Wilson was keen to get Ogier on board.

Jari-matti to Toyota.
Mikkelsen to DMACK possibly.

Østberg is set to run his own Adapta squad with a new Fiesta WRC from maybe Sweden onwards.

I am not sure how M'Sport would fund bringing Seb on board unless the likes of Red Bull brought a lot of money?

Citroen has it's team and all unless they run another car?

Citroen will find a seat for Ogier; French 4-time World Champion available with a French marque returning to the WRC full time.

Ogier has a lot of repsect for Malcolm Wilson. Whether or not that's enough to justify taking a huge pay cut only he will know. Plus he has the chance to win a championship with a second team - one thing Loeb never did.

So far both have won all theirs with one team.

I think Ogier will go where he thinks he can win. He's said in the past about quitting if running order rules don't change, so I don't think money would be his main motivation when choosing a team.

Tommi Makinen will approach all three Volkswagen refugees about 2017 Toyota World Rally Championship seats, but Juho Hanninen's drive is safe.

Champion Sebastien Ogier, Jari-Matti Latvala and Andreas Mikkelsen have been released onto what had seemed a settled WRC driver market with VW's decision to quit the series after 2016.

Hanninen has carried out the majority of testing on the all-new Yaris and has been confirmed for all rounds of next year's championship.

With budget understood to be no problem for the Toyota programme, there had been speculation that team boss Makinen could swoop for the ex-VW trio.

To be honest Latvala is surely a bit of a spent card by now? Rallying's Nico Rosberg - been in the best car by far for ages, and not really made it happen. Even the Norwegian would be a better bet

The Portuguese Motorsport magazine that broke the story that VW were pulling out. Is now claiming Red Bull are going to enter the WRC next season with the 2017 Polo.

Would explain why VW submitted the homolgation application.

It would also explain why Red Bull livery has been all over the test cars, blended into the camo wraps.

They certainly have the money to do it
