SW Adair Tyres Northern Ireland Sprint Championship set to return with sensational entry. Saturday 1st August sees the welcome return of the SW Adair Tyres Northern Ireland Sprint Championship with its next round due to take place at Kirkistown Circuit.

Within 40 hours of entries opening, the entry list had exceeded the event limit of 100 entries.

This is a bumper entry in terms of both numbers and quality, as all of the usual contenders have entered including the 2018 and 2019 champion and current championship leader, Adrian Pollock, along with second placed Oliver Cormican.  Oliver, who also leads the modified championship, has not recorded which car he will be competing in so perhaps he will finally have his new car completed for the event?

The bumper entry also includes defending road going champion, Andrew Robb, in his venerable BMW //M3 as well as specialist category leader, David Hawthorne, in his Westfield Megabusa. Last year’s championship runner up, Steven Gault, and three-time sprint champion, Simon Woodside, are also entered. Indeed the entry list includes the names of six previous Northern Ireland Sprint Champions.

Amongst the entries are thirteen single seaters, four World Rally Cars and three R5 category rally cars. It’s also great to see John Donnelly debuting his new Pilbeam MP62 and the return of the seasoned regulars like Henry Campbell, Gary Milligan, David Strain, Alan Roddy, Tom Lawther, Catherine Donnelly and many, many more.

Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 restrictions and guidelines, the event will run behind closed doors with no permitted entry to the event for spectators.

This is one of the many changes which has to be adhered too, in the current and foreseeable climate. As always however, live results and times will be available through www.resultsman.co.uk and, of course, the now famous live updates will also be streamed via the championship Facebook page as and when it’s possible, during the course of the day.

It is fully intended to complete the remainder of the SW Adair Tyres Northern Ireland sprint championship this year, however this is very dependent on how the COVID-19 restrictions play out during the remainder of the season.

As a means of dealing with lockdown, the SW Adair Tyres Northern Ireland Sprint Championship have conducted a number of live interviews with some of the championship drivers.  These have proven to be a huge success and can all be found via the official sprint championship page or through the official sprint championship YouTube channel.
