One hundred years of vauxhall was staged as usual at Billing Aquadrome in Northampton, just 380 miles from N. Ireland. I took my two cars to the show – my 1993 Lotus Carlton and my 1985 Monza GSE. Both cars were put onto the Autobahn Stormers stand.

It has been a few years since I have been at this particular show and the turnout was awesome. Every Vauxhall/Opel you could name was there – even real raritys like Nova Sports, HS and HSR Chevettes, Droop Snoot Firenzas and every variety of Manta imaginable with 2.0 16v turbos, supercharged 3.0 12v and 24v engines nearby. All were mint condition – even an ultra rare manta 400 road car! There was so much stuff, everything for everything. The autojumble was huge in itself!

There were over 1500 show cars alone on the autobahn club stand including 20 Lotus Carltons, Omegas, an Irmscher built Evo 500 Omega from Germany, Monzas, Senators and some real mint GSi Carltons.

Sunday was the concourse and judging day of the show and I was delighted to get runner up in the national concours with the Lotus. It makes all the work and the trip worthwhile.

Many thanks to Davy Hollinger, Stevey Mackey and Mr Hat for making the trip and the time… and envy nightclub! What a weekend and I will definitely be back next year. A must for all vauxhall enthusiasts.
