Club GTi returned to Kirkistown to start its 2006 season of track days on this sunny April afternoon.  There was a large turnout at the event with an even mix of road and race cars out on track.

At the drivers briefing Fel, the head marshal made it perfectly clear that no drifting was allowed at the top corner of the track, though was quite unclear as to how much ‘sideways’ was allowed on the rest of the track.  Needless to say on my first few laps I saw red flags galore as I filled colonial and fishermans with tyre smoke.  No fun at all.

I spotted a selection of cars from the SWRC race series, along with the usual Mk2 Golf crew from Club GTi, a westfield and a few 205 GTis among other things.  Other rear steer vehicles restrained like myself included Davy Hollinger (supercharged corolla) and Fast Cav (24v Senator).

Unfortunately the 1/4 mile drag racing was cancelled for the day which meant a lot of non-track cars and spectators left early.  Hopefully this is sorted for the charity event in the summer.
