Malcolm Wilson Stages Rally at M-Sport

At 8pm on Friday 4th the boat left and 2 hours later www.rallypics.org’s Skoda Fabia VRs got fired up and away we went to a town called Cockermouth about 5mins from M-Sport where the rally was to start on Saturday morning.

Up to the top of the world literally where the weather was sun, snow and freezing cold. There was a good few local entries for the rally and also Matt Wilson out in the Stobart Focus WRC which i knew was going to be amazing to watch and i wasn’t wrong as he won the event by 1min30sec over 7 stages from Paul bird who said he gave it everything but nothing could get him near Matts pace while Steve Perez in his wildly coloured VK sponsored focus came 3rd. Trevor Moore won his class while Gary Price finished 37th overall taking the last podium place after Moore and Gareth Logan 40th and 5th in the same class as Moore and Price all 3 NI men in mk2 escorts. Ballymena man Ivan Kennedy lost a wheel on SS1 in his Skoda Estelle in the 2nd half of the stage so that was his trip over finished sadly.
