The third round of the MG Car Club Championship was held at Morrow Contracts, Gilnahirk on the 24th May.

We had moved the date from the Tuesday night to accommodate for a demonstration autotest being held by the ADC in support of the Ballyclare May Fair opening. Still, our drivers turned up no matter what night it was on for a fun night’s autotesting and what turned out to be very close competition between some drivers for final positions.

Two tests were to be done 4 times each but due to time restrictions the longer test, a near 2 minute test, was cut down to just 3 times each.

A few people to watch out for in the future are Andrew Blair and Jamie McMillan. Andrew under the eagle eye of father Paul can be seen to improve greatly with each autotest, and I would say can now tail throw a car as well as any other expert nova driver out there. This is very encouraging to see young drivers coming out and especially doing so well at such a young age, a worry for any expert drivers out there of what is to come. Jamie in the lightweight Nova has also seen to be improving greatly, in fact if not for his fail on test two he would have won the event overall by 1.5 seconds.

At the end of the night overall went to Gareth Dillon in the Stryker who won by 4.2 seconds from George McMillan in the lightweight Nova another 10 seconds ahead of third place James Wilson in the Mini.

The MG Car Club would like to thank all timekeeper’s, marshal’s and helpers who gave up their time to help us at this event it is much appreciated.
