Whether you’re a mechanic, farmer, gardener, metal or wood worker, builder or working on anything that needs tools, Denis Wilson of Glenavy has been the go-to place to get kitted out now generations.  If you need a drill, a lawnmower and a compressor right now, they probably have dozens in stock to buy at their expansive site just off the main road between Moira and Nutts Corner.  It’s like Aladdin’s Man Cave and every time I visit my wallet breaks out in a sweat, as the home mechanic in me is quickly seduced by Teng socket sets, Sealey Tool Chests and the latest DeWalt Battery kit.

Yesterday, Denis Wilson of Glenavy held their 40th anniversary open day and with their major brand name suppliers coming along to demonstrate their latest gear I couldn’t resist heading up to see what was on show.

Along with the extensive showroom inside, there was a motorcross stunt display from Andy Perry and Trialstar, wood carving, room2race simulators and of course the most important thing on a birthday, cake.  If you’ve never visited before, you will probably be shocked and impressed at the size of their showrooms and the variety of products in stock.  And be sure to check out the blackboard at the door for their quote of the week!

We wish Denis Wilson of Glenavy another prosperous 40 years in business.

Andy is the founding member of RMS, and when he's not following motoring events around the UK and Ireland he can be found on the track (sideways, having competed in top level drifting for a decade), or of course he'll be on the forum.
