RMS Members Insurance scheme from Greenlight Insurance

Telephone Team: 01277 650866
Website: www.greenlightinsurance.co.uk

Greenlight have been providing our specialist vehicle Insurance products to the performance or modified vehicle owner since 1996.

Some of you may already be aware of Greenlight through our presence within the performance media, via owners clubs or forums (which amongst others include Scoobynet, Honda CTR register, Fiat coupe FCCUK, Cliosport, Club GTi & Passion ford).

It was several members of these forums who reside in Northern Ireland that suggested we contact RMS, which we have done and following discussions with the powers that be on RMS are pleased to advise the launch of an Insurance scheme for RMS members.

Until now our rates had purely been available to mainland residents, but through continued lobbying followed by an extensive period of due diligence we are now able to extend our specialist vehicle Insurance schemes to cover Northern Ireland.

Any RMS members covered by Greenlight will be tracked together in order that we can gather data that will allow us to refine the RMS scheme as we go. This will mean that your rates and benefits will be RMS member specific and driven by the claims received vs premium received, so as collective members you will have a direct influence upon the premiums paid.

Most of our pilot schemes include a marketing concession to recognise that enthusiasts represent better risks through the far greater care & love shown to their car compared to everyday motorists. The RMS member discount began as 10% and has been increased to 15% with most of our products.

We will take on board the comments of RMS members that contact us for a quotation or take out policies with us during this time, with your feedback being used to improve both our infrastructure and that of your scheme.

Traditionally Northern Ireland has been a restricted market, with limited competition. Even more so for modified/high performance vehicle owners. Every new Insurance provider will have a positive effect for the Northern Irish consumer and we will do our uppermost to assist you with the handling of your Insurance requirement.

What are greenlight able to offer?

1. We have been established as a specialist vehicle Insurance provider in 1996 and possess a good level of technical knowledge in respect of performance, modified, custom & kit built vehicles.

2. We offer Competitive premiums with a further 10.0 - 15% discount (depending upon scheme) for RMS forum members.

3. Unlike most Insurers we understand the mentality and like to cover modified vehicle drivers, our view is very much that if you are spending money to improve your vehicle it demonstrates that you keep your vehicle in good order and clearly care for your vehicle.

4. You CAN disclose all modifications and we can accommodate anything up to and including full roll cages and nitrous oxide.

5. Our underwriters offer ‘like for like’ replacement of modified parts for repairable instances and where possible, or an equivalent substitute part will be offered.

6. Agreed value is available as an option to owners of heavily modified vehicles.

7. Track cover is available as a per event option for customers that are covered with us.

8. Protected bonus is available as an option for drivers aged 22 or over with 5 or more years NCB in their own name.

9. Mirrored NCB - Providing you have a good driving history we are able to match our equivalent percentage discount for the years that you have earned upon your first vehicle to a 2nd vehicle (NB. the first vehicle does not need to be covered with us)

10. Low mileage use rewarded (with scaled discounts & lower minimum premium) - With the main cost to Insurers these days coming from injury claims, lower road miles equates to lower exposure to this and good discounts are allowed under our products to reflect this.

We are Performance vehicle specialists and as such look to cover performance models, as with modified vehicles we like the element of pride and care that goes with a performance vehicle – our premiums will reflect this.

Basic acceptance criteria

Due to our only covering performance or modified vehicles, the underwriters require all drivers to:

1) Be aged 21 or over

2) Have held a full UK license for at least 3 Years

3) Have 1 or more years actual no claims bonus (NCB) in your own name, in use upon this (or another vehicle in your name). Or company car driving experience where you have been the main user (taking the vehicle home daily)

Our product Underwriters currently exclude all Ferrari, Porsche 911, Lamborghini, Lotus models, Mk1 Fabia Vrs models, rear wheel drive BMW, Honda S2000 models and the Sierra RS500 model.

Most other performance/modified vehicles (inc. UK Subaru Impreza, Honda Civic/Integra Type R, Golf Gti Mk1-5, Vauxhall VXR, Clio V6, 172, 182 models, Ford Escort Rs Turbo/Cosworth, Sierra Cosworth, Fiesta RS models, Focus RS, ST170, ST, Fiesta ST, Mazda MX5/Eunos) will be acceptable.

We also cover converted/modified vans (ie. VW Transporter) for leisure, commuting, day van or motorcaravan use.

Cover for imported vehicle models (which due to system improvements do not need to be recognised by the Association of British Insurers) is also available.

To obtain a free quotation, you can either click this link & log onto www.greenlightinsurance.co.uk or call us on 01277 650866.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Kind regards

I had posted this thread within the car chat area of the forum & then saw the legal area of the forum where it should be.

Many thanks for moving the thread to the correct position and re-positioning as a sticky.

Hi Brendy,

We've been dealing with forums like seatcupranet for years now and you can get a genuine view of how we perform and treat our customers from independent forum members.

We're keen to expand our new scheme within the province and were recommended to RMS as a useful way of reaching our target market.

Kind regards

Tony

also shame about having to be 21 :worried:

Hi Rossei,

We havent written drivers under 21 for some 8 years now, the claim frequency & increase in the amount of personal injury claims presented along with the extent of the awards given has led to our Underwriters refraining from covering 17-20 year olds..

Sorry..

Do you provide rally car insurance? Its for a Nova that I plan to use for road rallies primarily but also for track days etc. Being used for a road rally means it will be fully road legal, mot'd and taxed, but it will also be prepared to FIA approved standards. It will be therefore heavily modified from standard, but will eventually be RAC logbooked. I know that there are others who provide rally car insurance just while the car is being used on the public road to get between events. I understand that insurance during the competitive event will be seperate.

Thanks.

Sorry Andy,

The EVO was probably excluded due to a recent decline in claims performance.

They dont seem to be a theft problem, it's just that drivers keep losing control & writing them off, which at £20k per time vs £900-£1100 premium isnt sustainable.

I'll check for sure, but that was the last directive i'd heard before Christmas.

From a personal perspective, they are a bloody good car though.

Kind regards

Tony

Hi Michelin,

For rally vehicles that are used for competition we would recommend that you try a motorsport Insurance Co, someone like www.competition-car-insurance.co.uk

Having checked your individual case, your record (ie. claims/conv) was the reason that the Underwriter couldnt offer competitive terms. Rate wise due to your age/record the rate would have been £1500+

OK...

To spell it out.

If you meet our criteria mentioned in the thread above we will be extremely competitive & offer excellent cover, which with like-for-like, track & agreed value options differs from most everyday Insurers.

Our underwriters criteria is fairly tight as this is a new scheme, so we may not be able to accomodate everyone at this stage.

BUT.. we are allowing a genuine concession & will be able to help at least some of you (namely the ones that fit our criteria).

Whilst we apologise that we cant help everyone at this stage, surely the more Insurance providers offering cover within the Province the better it is from a customer perspective.

Kind regards

Tony
