It’s the big one this weekend, many RMSers taking the trip to the hills?

The boom is back, there are 10 WRC cars entered, 2 former WRC drivers, the modified men have been warming up the Millingtons for the past month or 2 and, to add some extra spice, Ken Block brings his Cossie into the hills for a spin.

I was lucky enough to be at Ken Blocks test day on Monday so I am at max excitement levels already. He had the cossie out to set it up for tarmac and he had a brand new 2019 R5 Fiesta over to set it up also.

Would have been great to see Craig Breen give the new Fiesta R5 mk2 it’s debut in Donegal. WRC power instead for him

What did you think of the Escort @davecoupe?

Down for the 3 days, Donegal Fever is in full flight. What a national entry :scream:

It was pretty good, he was still getting it set up. It was visibly too hard and they were softening it all day. Much the same as Loeb, he ended up with a gravel set up on the C4 😂.

The R5 was mega. The noise of the antilag on it was mega and he gave it a proper rip, was proper pushing on with it. He had to soften it a bit too but looked to be on a pace that would be competitive in it by the end of the day.

Really hard for an outsider to come here for their first time on this type of tarmac and even be half decent. I’d say he will raise eyebrows a few times over the weekend.

Don’t think they can be rallied here yet. Think they are making their debut in Ypres next weekend.

They are unreal, can’t wait to see one here.

The next new car we will see here will be a Polo WRC.....someone has one bought and was testing it this week out at Muckish but won’t be out in it for Donegal.

Didn’t think there was much point buying a WRC anymore given most have switched to R5.

Yea, Eric Camilli is on at Ypres in the new car 👍🏼

National Rally Championship & Donegal. Desi Henry has his WRC fiesta now too for the National rounds and all the old school WRC men still use them In that championship .... the tarmac championship was lucky Craig entered it this year or the National would have taken over as the premier championship imo

Dave, I love what you do, however the boom is far from back, sadly...

Until we have Loeb in a current world car, alongside 27 other world cars with 32 helicopters following the event, it will never be a full fever event.

Loeb didn't lead after day one and the team flew a gravel suspension set-up in overnight, for day two, he then wiped the floor with the Irish lol

I would however liked to have been at that test day, despite the fact Ken isn't a driver!

A great set of images you have and I do wonder will breen have an 11th hour switch to the new r5?

They will be back by 2021 at the latest if everything goes to plan and probably won’t need gravel suspension this time 😉

The R5 is already in Belgium.

I've my doubts, the return on investment would require someone with a broken calendar to make it sounds like a good idea.

Dave I bet was it you that posted about the Polo test on Facebook and had all those poor sods driving around Muckish looking for it 😆

Just can't see why anyone would buy a WRC over an R5.

Sven Sneets said 90% the of Polo WRC's had been sold, but none have made an appearance. I know VW ran one in a National rally in Austria.

I didn’t post it anywhere except here. Were there people out there? Surely you would be guaranteed to find someone out there testing this week, it’s one of the most popular testing roads in the country.

Cark mountain was busy too by all accounts and there is a wee road up behind redcastle that loads of boys always test on, it was busy this morning too, they were queueing up to get testing on it 😂
