So I picked this up a few weeks ago.

Had only seen photos and described as "dead on, starts on the button" Yadda Yadda Yadda 🤣

Price was agreed and reflected the risk of buying blind.

Bike as advertised:

Got it home and gave it decent inspection.
Needs tyres,
Full degrease,
Fork lowers painted,
Calipers cleaned,
Replacement bolts,
Tail tidy wired for number plate light,
Service, fluids and hopefully valve clearance

So back home into the garage

Started to strip it down to see what it was like under the plastics. Was hoping to find a power commander but no luck.

Just a clipped wire (assuming number aye light)
Loads of road grime, chain lube and 30ks worth of use.

Stripping out the undertray found corroded bolts and connections which snapped. So replacement inline fuse ordered.

So this is how it sits now:

Subframe needs a good degrease and have to treat some surface rust on underside of the tank (inside is a immaculate)

Bit slow on progress, working from home, looking after a kid etc

Sanded down the worst of the surface on the tank

Some gloss black paint with rust inhibitor applied. Not professional but tidied.

The gave the same teatment to the tail tidy.
Everything seized solid so indicators butchered off, ideally I would have replaced but not much of this is actually seen so may may buy me some time

Always loved these wee bikes, thought they looked great from day one and still very fresh today. HTR.

Slowest project ever. Can get feck all done WFH.
17mm Allen arrive so I can drop the swingarm.
Service kit ordered, but, would you replace this air filter? Think I might save the £34.

Did you get the fork lowers painted? Just wondering as I just bought one there and mine will need slight touching up

Not sure what to do with mine they aren’t too bad would be tidy powder coated black
If I was stripping the forks down to replace bushes and seals then I probably would.
For me, it'll be a mask and spray job.

This is what I done last time:

Just watch using Tarminator around the rubber seals in case it would have a negative effect.

@Big Pimp could confirm if there’s a need for concern or not.

Yep. Care needs to be taken when using any solvent based cleaner like Tarminator and pretty much every citrus cleaner / degreaser I’ve ever seen around rubber seals.
Also the vinyl too as it’s made for tar and glue removal so I’d be really careful
