Were those old soviet vehicles not basically engineered to be flogged over terrible roads in terrible conditions with the absolute barest maintenance without breaking or if they did break be fixable with twine a hammer and a screw driver.
How has he resisted the temptation to paint that green!!Not exactly common esp on NIs roads but you certainly don't see them everyday..

Spotted in Portaferry this morning.
Was this the one in the ballyhill road. 4 from lisburn? This advert is basically what happened in real life unfortunately. I was speaking to a vehicle inspector from the DVA who attended a crash outside Lisburn years ago where a white Corsa B SRi hit a hump in the road, the cut rear springs fell out under full extension and when she landed both rear wheels locked solid against the arches causing an inevitable crash killing 4 young fellas on board. The driver survived.

Yeah was going to say the Rover Mini minilites should be plentiful, mustn't have been that long ago that you had one then!Mine was on a XI plate. The tyres aren’t available and the ones on mine were 30 year old remoulds so needless to say a set of mini lites went on with 12in tyres lol. The metrics were in surprisingly good shape and went with the car.
Quality! When you'd mentioned a Metro before had assumed it was a back in the day car. Good to know that a few have survived! My older bothers and sister had a few between them in the 90s.sold it last July. It had about 14k on it

Want is all that is required, need doesn't come into itactually thought it was yours! I have a real want for one but absolutely no need
Class just had a read through, did you buy a HXI plate for it after it was PLZ or how did you get it?1985 Austin mini METRO!
Have wanted one of these since I was a young lad. Just never got round to buying one. Took it home today and plan to spend a few weeks/months getting it on the road and motd for the summer. Will update thread with progress :) 1985 city x 13,500 miles 998 a+ series engine 4 speed box There's no...rmsmotoring.com

Driving them was an acquired taste, I remember being very disappointed with the MG he had when I took it a spin (sadly scrapped due to lack of space in 2002, and was a really solid one) just didn't like the driving position at all.
Still love to see them
That's crazy, they don't normally do that, unless if had a GB or ROI plate then came back here. Bro has an 86 car that had the original plate removed as it was 2 digit and re reg'd in 2004ish. Think we checked and original plate isn't on a car. Be cool if that worked for his!I wrote to DVLA saying that the PLZ plate wasn’t original and if there was any chance they could find out what the original plate was and apply it. Amazingly a few weeks later a letter arrived with a new V5.
