Small issue has arisen and making car run as if the maf has gone. This rubber hose down beside the maf has split. Does anyone know the name or even part number as I'm struggling to find it on etka?

Sorry it's the wee 90 degree rubber hose by the maf, not the big plastic air intake. Unless im describing totally wrong lol. On phone so cant even draw a circle round it.

If it's just after the MAF, it's most likely a crankcase breather, otherwise known as a cvs (crankcase ventilation system)

Sorry meant to add that. Mk4 golf 2.3 V5 (170).

Feeding down to a thinner pipe which os then feeding to front of engine somewhere.

as other say its a breather line and whilst handy for the environment they are brutal on the engine intake and cause all sorts of long-term gunge around the throttle body...turbo cars are effected even more as the oil vapour settles inside the intercooler .......anyway, self amalgamating tape works wonders for jobs like this.... or adhesive heat shrink...either would do especially if the hose isn't readily available.

just blank/plug it on air intake and let the rubber pipe VTA in the meantime see does that cure it
only a short term fix as the engine may not have a secondary vent / balance hose and long term plugging could cause excess crank case pressure

Just to update, had a look in the daylight and whilst that hose is split a bit (dunno how on earth it would go over the penis pipe if it wasn't) I just happened to notice the inlet where it connects to the throttle body and it was at a very slight jaunty angle. Wiggled it and sure enough there it was coming off the underside of the throttle body, which sorta explains the intermittent issues I was having. So loosened the clip, pushed the inlet pipe on, blast up the road and all 100% now. PHEW!

thanks for all the suggestions guys, hopefully that's the end of it. Oh and taped up the original split pipe just to give it a bit more grip (y)
