Big updates this week! For me anyway!

After much deliberation I decided to get the window trims wrapped in gloss black. I opted to leave the grill chrome for now as I think it’s too much black. I’ll probably change my mind in a few weeks though.

Finally got my winter wheels off too. Always keen to try something different when it comes to wheels, I spotted a set of 20” Style 177’s in E70 fitment on German ebay a couple of months ago. They come in 18” and 19” as well, but I didn’t actually know they came in 20” for the E70 (I can only see 1 photo on google with them). I got a set of bargain tyres a couple of weeks ago so left the wheels in to Michael to get a refurb. Picked them up yesterday and couldn’t contain my excitement so had to fit last night. Also did the brakes as well, great craic. Bought myself a wheel hanger/lining up tool as suggested by @gpaevo , the X5 wheels weigh the best part of 8T each so trying to line them up is a nightmare. This tool made life so much easier.

I was nervous about how the wheels would look but I’m glad I took the risk as I think it looks well. Opinions welcome though! I also have a set of the OEM 20” wheels that I’ll probably get diamond cut and fit when I come to sell as I imagine they will be more desirable for any prospective buyers.

What colour is that @Lyons ? Have the M3 wheels needing doing at that looks a good alternative to the diamond cut.

Great choice of wheel really suits it. Was sitting beside you last week in Carryduff and was admiring it.

Love it on the new wheels. I would be tempted to leave the grill chrome also. You could Plastdip to test out the look.

Thought was shadow chrome looks real well. Does Michael do different shades of it? Fella I work with got his Merc wheels done this week shadow chrome from Michael and thought it was wild dark whereas yours is perfect.

It depends on the style of wheel how the shadow chrome looks.

Cheers folks! Didn’t think the wheels would’ve been such a hit!

Booked in for an alignment with rubberlover on Monday.

Minor but rewarding update.

The PDC and boot release buttons were badly worn when I got it. Replacement panels with the 360 camera button were few and far between- there’s 1 on eBay, but £62 is a bit much to spend over the height of 2 buttons. I wondered could I take it apart and replace the buttons on their own, so I removed mine and did a bit of investigatory works. Delighted to report that they could be removed easily enough. So I bought a replacement (non camera) panel for £12 and got to work.
