That would be worth a good price these days @schoolboy. For reference I sold a very very clean one with 330bhp and 55k on it for 5500. But that was over 5 years ago! Good ones have went up in value since
Happy days @ace275, good price and sounds like a good base and has the PPP. If you can weld then that’s a bonus! It should be good fun when the snow comes 😜

I missed out on buying this back, it was sold by the time I heard it was actually up for sale. 350 bhp and 70000 miles. It was a lot less than £5500.

Maybe why they sold so quick :p. To be fair the one I sold a few years back was a properly mint low mile car and had a great spec on it. Brembos, suspension and 330bhp with a simtek ecu and TD05, 550cc injectors etc. It’s the imports now that aren’t cheap anymore. Just after @ferrett detailed it

Uk ones don’t demand the same money. You can still import a good wrx for far less than £5500

Is that’s landed with the 30% fees paid and on the road? There are R grade cars coming in a bit cheaper but anything rare or grade 3.5 and above won’t be cheap anymore. I keep an eye on JDM auction watch all the time and you just to look at the like of the JDM suppliers in England to see what they are selling for. Even the good stuff is drying up over in Japan.

Just unreal 😍 I remember drooling over the pics when you posted it up way back, the grey brembos etc. It must have went really well with 330 bhp. My Type R was at about 320 bhp, very addictive

It was A good going thing at 330bhp, the fella who bought it said it was pretty much even with his brothers 350bhp Evo 4. Your type r would have been quicker again than the turbo 2000 with the shorter gear ratios. Do you still have it, The black one?

I’d well believe it. Yeah well the only way I could fault it was that the gears were too close for the road. Was good fun and all but it was through all the cogs and screaming in 5th fairly quick. A 6 speed would have made it perfect. It was running at 1.3/1.4 bar mapped by Bob Rawle. No, sold it a good while back, to a Subaru Specialist.

I love the short ratios in them though it’s my favourite thing about the RA lol, I can’t wait to wait to get it mapped in spring, I might chuck a bigger turbo on too but not sure, maybe just be happy with about a safe 330 on the VF28 and leave it at that. Any torque above that and it may stress the gearbag

Well @ace275 is it coming home with you?

I got one sorted, going to pick it up tommorow (provided all is well with it)

Not the best example, but neither was it the worst either. Was uploaded on eBay and facebook for £2,495 a few days ago, but seen it dropped to £2,195 and offered him £2,000 which he was happy enough with

Small bit of rust round the driver's arch. There is underseal in the rear arches which worries me a little, however I can weld anyway and the underside isn't undersealed and actually looks fairly good

Flying over in the morning, and going for the Cairnryan to Belfast boat tommorow evening. As long as it runs and drives ok, it'll do me for a weekend reasonably priced fun but practical car. Travel costs should be under £300 flying, collecting and bringing it back

Class (y). Wagons are much cooler!

Only left a deposit last night and it's home already, went to Lincoln today and brought it back

Didn't expect it to be quite as rapid as it was tbh, just ate up the roads too, glad I went for one

Class. Health to enjoy. They really get under your skin 👌

Agreed, I still regret selling my old blobeye WRX saloon, which is why I ended up buying another Subaru not that long after. There's something about an old Subaru that no modern car that I've ever experienced can replicate. The sound, the all weather ability to cover ground quickly and the reasonable running costs (for what they are) is hard to match.

That wagon looks a great base @ace275 , it looks nice and fresh in silver. A neighbour has a PPP Blobeye saloon and I was pleasantly surprised how well it went with just the PPP pack. It certainly felt a good bit more likely than my WRX which was standard when I bought it.

I've been thoroughly enjoying this car, best car I've driven in a hell of a long time. Strangely, it reminds me of my old Integra Type R of all things, despite being totally different.

Has a few issues to sort, but nothing too major hopefully. Certainly not short on power with Prodrive pack. Surprised how firm the suspension is however

Thanks all for putting me off the Audi and Alfa 😎😎

And.... The headgasket is away

Pressuring the cooling system when revved, and there's some exhaust gasses in the coolant (Although it did take the testing fluid absolutely ages to detect any)

Drives great mind, typical lol

Looks like an engine out job in these too 🤮

Balls... hope its nothing more serious. Last time I'd a head gasket gone I ended up £1500 lighter in the end.

I can lift the engine out and do the work myself thankfully, but still quite a bit of work doing it. Tempted to just do it and the belts, water pump and change the clutch altogether. Clutch is a little high, but the release bearing does make a noise when engine braking, unless trying to match the revvs beforehand

Would probably be £700 in parts for everything. Actually really enjoying the car, surprised with how good they are, so tempted to do it and keep it a good while

If youre taking the engine out it'd make sense to do the rest for sure, especially when you can do it yourself. Hard to beat some piece of mind.

To rub insult too, my mate phoned me about an hour after I diagnosed it and found the gasses in the coolant and all

He started the call with "How's the Impreza going, head gasket away yet?" 🤦‍♂️
