Tape the old chip to the old ring and stick up behind the dash

Did he swap the chip from the key?
He said he did. I’ll check out tonight

as long as the chip matches the new collar round the ignition?

so new key with ignition and chip?
Or old chip new key?
Tape the old chip to the old ring and stick up behind the dash
He just fitted the whole ignition and used the key to match but his old chip

do I need to change the black collar from his old ignition with the new 1?

I think the ring from the old barrell is coded as well if i mind right, use the old key blade and ring and tape together and tuck away, with new ring just left unplugged

So take the black ring and key blade, tape together an put somewere close to the ignition. Unplug the new immobiliser ring and use new key an chip?

Yeah you need the old ring plugged in. Wouldn't dismantle the ignition, just plug it in and tuck it out of the way with the chip taped to it and leave the ignition as is.

The ring is just an RF receiver so it doesn't need swapped. There will be a small glass encased chip inside the key which must match the original immobiliser system.

He has said the chip was swapped into the new key. Still immobilised
