Ah right don't think people really care about the risk, definitely not always a Sunday when I've seen guys 🤣 remember as a kid taking the scrambler up there. Shame it's never been opened up on a bigger level for motorcycles.

Seems to be a lot of politics and gatekeeping involved, something I am keen to stay out of and away from.

Isolation induced boredom lead to more tinkering and cleaning

Some more graphics to check I liked them before ordering the proper 315R gel Montesa stickers

Nice new 9 tooth front sprocket and Renthal 42T rear sprocket along with a fresh fancy THC Chain.

Then managed to re-route the brake line and throttle cable through the forks without it ghost revving on full lock either way.
Also cut a nice carbon number board for it.

Oh and can't forget the wee carbon sprocket protector too. Not that it would protect anything, but it looks nice.

The only good thing to come from the lockdown really is the fact I managed to sprain something quite badly in my wrist whilst couping off into the scenery somewhere, so it's giving my (left ;) ) wrist some much needed rest and recovery time.

Long time, no update.

So a quick ride on a friends Vertigo in May made me realise that as fantastic as the 4RT is, I wasn't suited to the bike and unfortunately 2 stroke seems to suit my lack of ability much better.

This lead to the 4RT being sold fairly quickly and a 2013 Beta 250 was purchased as its replacement.

A fantastic bike, and a joy to start as its first kick every single time, hot or cold.
However. As much as I liked it on the test ride, it was typical Italian, you needed 3 different tools to remove the plastics was my main annoyance, and I ended up riding it twice over the course of 6 weeks before selling it on too.

Now, the reason for selling it on doesn't come much better....

This thing is simply fantastic and the spec list is just class.
Reiger rear shock
Tech forks
Keihin carb
S3 Flywheel weight
Titanium front pipe
Braktec Monoblock caliper
Renthal bars
Dripping in S3 parts and accessories.
I'm completely in love with this thing

So with the part of my head settled that everything under me was the best it can be (for a given budget) it was time to enter my first trial.

I'll tell you now, the results were hilarious. I rode the blue line and pretty sure I got well and truly beaten by two 10 year old girls on Beta 80's but I laughed and cried my way through it and loved it.

I did manage to remove whatever remaining life was in the silencer end cap though, so good excuse for an upgrade.

After that it was time to swap the pegs after watching the BVM vlog about the new Jitsie pegs.

This went tits up fairly quickly. As I realised the bottom lug had been bent up meaning the new pegs and spacers didn't fit in the gap. Some gentle prying resulted in a snapped lug.

This was Saturday night about 9pm and I was due to be out at the leadmines the next morning. So packed her into the van and away to work.

So Sunday at the mines was great. Was really getting to grips with the bike and overcoming my fear off dropping down steps, then it all went wrong, I went OTB about 9 or 10 feet up, spent way too long airborne and landed on a rock with my ribs on the left hand side. Having never broke a bone (few small fractures just) before this was pretty brutal. However, just as I got my barings the bike finally made it down and took out two ribs on the right hand side.

Knowing the following Saturday was a big boy trial on Croob, I took the down time with my ribs during the week to service and get the bike back where it deserved to be.

Determined to make the event on the Saturday, I prepared myself with copious amounts of caffeine, codeine and water.
Saturday came, 4 codeine deep by 10am and we're waved off the start line.
2 codeine per lap to try and ease the pain enough to continue but by the end of lap 3 my brain was happy to continue but the sack of sh*t that transports that brain around had completely given up and shut down making for some hilarious excursions into the scenery with absolutely zero control.

Again results were nothing short of embarrassing, but I really didn't care. I just dumped the bike in a hedge and collapsed on the tarmac behind the van for an hour until other friendly human beings fell off the mountain and back to the vehicles.

I've not been out on her in 4 weeks now as that was a very painful lesson in what not to do. As soon as the ribs are feeling fairly normal again I'll be back out enjoying it.

Well done.
Hopefully your ribs heal quickly.
The hardest part is giving them the chance to heal.
Midweek after the trial, I'd had all my ribs and limbs realigned then undid it all by lifting a midget bodyshell down from a 6.5 foot frame.
The last week and a half we've been moving house and the fact most of my work is bent over a welding table all day it's a struggle.
Just need to stop falling off at stupid times.

Falling off is how you learn or at least that is what I told people when I crashed my scrambler 😂😂

Yup. Keep telling myself the same thing.
You did well there, you made that look easy. I tried to wheelie mine when I bought it and backflipped it, they are so sensitive. The new bike is stunning.
My problem with wheelies is not going far enough. Hard to tell your brain that the bike can go vertical and still won't tip over.
