Hello everyone,

I have been reading and searching over the forums for the last few months for a classic Porsche 911, and finally about the month ago pulled the trigger, left the deposit. Last Thursday, drove 400+ miles round trip, collected the car.

It is a 1979 Japanese market, 911 sc, rare hardtop coupe, matching Japanese engine and chassis number. Five Japanese ownership in total, two were company ownership, two were from the same family (over 20 years), the last one being a short owner then exported to Ireland, with a Japanese auction rating at 4B. I purchased the car from the Irish owner out of his small class Porsche collection.

I am very happy with the overall condition of the car, the underneath is perhaps the best I have seen so far for a 41 years old classic. From what we can see, with both hands dirty and car been on the 2-post lift over two hours, there were no visible rusts. Apparently the whole car has been resprayed once during the first dealership period, changed the colour from petrol blue metallic to silver metallic. Silver metallic colour has been with the car since 1993. Some imperfections on one door and one front wing, Carrera rear spoiler, Momo steering wheel and Recaro SR3 seats (very comfortable over long journey and sitting a bit lower than the OEM). Powder coated matt black Fuchs wheels 6 and 7.

My plan is to get it checked thoroughly with a full service in McMillan specialist, then really enjoy the summer.

A very nice story about the car will follow later.

There is also a short story about the car within the five ownership in Japan. I think you will all find it interesting:

Between Jan to Sept. 2013, a owner/mechanic Mr. Toyohiko Yoshizumi at Japanese Independent Porsche Garage at Osaka has bought the car and restored it from many years of mechanic disrepair. Apparently, the third and fourth owners of the car (1992-2013) are husband and wife. The husband passed away on 2003, his wife took the ownership, left the car in their heated garage for more than 10 years. Oneday, Mr. Yoshizumi got a phone call from the lady and she wanted to get ride of the Porsche. We all know that was properly the worst decision she ever made.

She sold the car for 25,000 Yen!

Don’t discount Alan mcgookin AMG cars in Ballyclare. Much cheaper than McMillan
Cool car :grinning:

Absolutely, suggested from the previous Irish owner about McMillan.

That’s awesome. I’m seeing a lot more rhd modern classics from the Japanese market appearing on these shores, it’s like they’ve suddenly realised Japanese people didn’t drive only Skylines and Supras - Alfa 147 and 156 GTAs seem to be popular at moment too.

Apparently, when they started to imported EU cars, they prefer the LHD exotic and original cars. The two stickers were independent Japanese Porsche importers, until Porsche took the dealership over.

The odd time
Great find and story. The Japanese love the German cars also but are seen as far cooler if lhd. Seen as a status thing if lhd. Nearly as if to say this is impractical but I bought it because I can..
