1986 VW Polo Coupe S.. (Project)

The new Project Daily has been picked up and work has commenced.
Ive know this car since it was two years old and it has first class history with it, 2007 Vw Golf Estate 1.9TDI.
First picture from collecting, it had hudcaps i just took them off for a nosey.

Quick bit of ringing scrapyards and looking on ebay and managed to pick up a set of Mk5 GT rims for buttons so had to buy

although i need two centre caps which i will get asap.

Now the dirty work, the clutch just didnt feel right so just went ahead and replaced the full clutch and DMF and now all is 100% and ready for the road.

So gave the GT wheels a quick wash and fitted them. Will get them refurbed at some stage but its a workhorse so not that fussed
Hope to get afew hours at it this weekend so i can give it a good powerhose/polish and will wet vac interior just to have it as clean as i can get it.
Very happy with it so far!

First interior mod, nice leather steering wheel from Golf GT.
I have afew more surprises to come and will update when they arrive. Love this big bus!

I’ve no idea why, but I’ve always really liked a Golf estate. The Mk5/6 especially are so rare on the roads.

Have to say a Golf estate was never top of my list but wanted to try something different and this was the perfect choice for what i need.
Ive afew nice modifications lined up and will update along the way.

So as the Golf standard interior was looking abit tired i set about a mission to freshen it up. Standard seats below

Had a brain wave of gathering the bits to make the big bus into a Golf GT Estate so planning started.

Got these out of a wrecked Golf GT but they were in seriously dirty condition as they were exposed! Had my work cut out but sure nothing to lose spending afew hours cleaning.
Work started..

So stripping the old stuff out was next.

Old centre console out, trail fitted the rear heater pipe then new GT console fitted

Next up was get the GT seats fired in.

Rear seats in after abit of modifying the seat base as the estate rear bench is different than the 3/5door Golfs.

So job done on the inside, just have to fit the new GT steering wheel when it arrives tomorrow then lastly il get a RCD330 and interior is sorted.

Next on the list was the outside and the chrome grille.
Not a fan of the chrome myself and as im going for a GT replica look i thought id give it a lick of paint as the mk5 GT came with a black front grille. Prep work below

Finished and badge back in. By no means a bodyshop type finish but im happy and this is Project Cheap TDI lol so not too fussed.

Had to dechrome the strips above the foglight covers so stripped them too

Rubbed down and then etch primer on.

Thats all the work done for now, still need to transfer my plate off my polobefore it goes up for sale next week.
I will try get afew good photos of the car once i get it washed tonight but very happy with the new daily driver plus i love doing cheap modifications.
Have one of these genuine GT badges ordered so will get it fitted to the grille asap.

Been driving away at the big Estate bus everyday but came across this Audi A3 drop top through a friend, now im not one for convertible cars but i took a shine to this A3.
It has a great spec being a 2.0 TDI CR lump in S-Line Black Edition spec with upgraded Bose speakers, so going to be using this for the next while to see how i gel with it.
Plan is a set of Eibach springs and refurb wheels then just drive it!
So far i love it, needed a good clean and gave the seats a wet vac and they are like new again.
No hairdresser jokes please lol..

Thought id update this, the Polo Coupe has been stored away since Titanic Dubs in 2017 but will get it back out next summer for show season if Covid allows!
In the meantime a car id always wanted back in my collecion was my 6n2 Polo TDI. So after torturing my good mate that had it, i finally twisted his arm enough and he sold it back to me as it had been off the road/SORN the last year.
I dont know why but i love this wee car, had 5 faultless years of ownership before selling & i loved it as my daily driver. Its only done 10k mile since i sold it plus its been very well maintained in that time which is brilliant.
Collection day it needed two tyres pumped up and a new battery and started literally first turn of the key although it did need a good clean.

No boss i sold the the estate about a year ago, it went about 2hours after advertising it

When i owned it the first time i had it on G60 Steels.
But yes that was me the other day in the garage i will get afew photos up of it in its current form with the 15" GTI bbs rims fitted.

Nice one, thinking of something estate and vag diesel for work, some of the lanes and tracks I’m up are ridiculous and the civic is a bit too harsh and low sitting.....need a bit of vw comfort lol.
