Took a longer spin out today now I'm back to full health, up to top of Binevenagh and elsewhere, having taken it a bit further now and explored the limits of the handling it is definitely like jelly on a plate, the hardest suspension setting does make a difference but not what you'd call sporty

Got some Lanoguard in the post this morning to spray the underside, anyone else tried it? Seems to be easier to apply, less messy but doesn't last as long as regular underseal.

Post up what you think of lanoguard, I’ve been thinking about trying it, looks almost too good to be true

Sprayed the underside today with the Lanoguard, it's very easy to spray on but very thin so there's a lot of drippage, the sprayer that came with it has an adjustable nozzle though so was easy to direct into all the nooks and crannies and get something approaching even coverage. The pics show it as just applied, it should dry to a slight waxy finish. No driving for 8-24 hours, will take some more pics of it tomorrow once dry.

The stuff is derived from lanolin, the thing that keeps sheep waterproof, so the jeep now smells like a livestock auction 🐑🐑🐑

Was surprised at the amount I had left over after doing the whole underside and the wheel wells etc. You can just about see there's around a third left in the 2L bottle so that should do me to top it up later in the year if needs be. Also still have a tub of thicker stuff for using on moving components so will chuck some of that on as well at some point.

@MarkM
Meant to say, preparation was minimal as per instructions, close-up pressure wash and left to dry before application, and is safe to spray on electrical components and easy to wipe off paintwork etc. so no worries with overspray :cool::cool:

I love stuff like this, most people probably wont think of it as anything other than an old pajero. Those in the know will know its a bit more special. Nice to see its being taken proper care of and looked after unlike most pajeros of this age!

Be interested to see how the lanoguard gets on. I contacted them a while back about spraying it over old waxoyl and dinitrol and they claim it actually works even more effectively when sprayed over old coatings, rather than needing to be removed and lanoguard applied to a clean underside. Ill be doing my subaru before winter with it and have high hopes for it.

And they’re on, that’ll do for external embellishments, think it stands out enough already and don’t want to overdo it, there’s a fine line 😎

I'd say that'll hit £25K or so.
Nice to see the spares for the rear suspension, the guts of £4-5K alone.

ETA: That paint is NOT Scotia white afaik, W09 code is Sophia White, W83 is Scotia White 8-|8-|8-|

Shipment from the East 😎🇯🇵💨

Fitting it tomorrow, although I need to sort what I think is a leak somewhere along the exhaust, hoping it’s not a cracked manifold, anybody recommend an exhaust specialist around Coleraine/Ballymoney?

Fitted the Gruppe M intake and took to local mechanic for them to investigate the blow in the exhaust. Sounded like it was coming from the driver's side near the cat so was bracing myself for a possible shock at a replacement cat and/or manifold.

It turned out that somewhere along the line a previous owner had bodged a repair (probably to get it through MOT) to the downpipe where they join before the cat, so that the pipes were basically hanging by a single weld.

They had also gutted the cat (which is no bad thing given scarcity and cost of a new one) and coded to clear the associated engine management light.

So to cut a long story short it's been sorted with 10hr's worth of labour by the garage welding and fitting new gaskets to line everything up tight. From cat back everything is all good and easy to come by so no worries there. It no longer sounds like a monster truck (secretly gutted), I can actually leave the window open without the fumes nearly killing me and it starts first time when hot. Hopefully the MPG will increase to acceptable levels as well.

Got a new rear badge to replace the original tired one.

Intake fitted after a bit of faffing with the support for it not lining up with existing holes, got it sorted eventually. Will need to give the painted bits a going over now.

Running lovely and much more responsive now.

Took a spin up into the Sperrins this morning with the dog for a walk, ended up stuck at the side of the road, stopped to take a photo, jumped back in, started engine, rumbled into life, idle dropped and stalled.

Turns out the hot start problem hasn't gone away, so me and the dog sat and had our lunch while it cooled down. 20 mins later and we were away again no bother, so one to investigate, thinking idle control valve or something.

Anybody know what this might be and where it should be? Found it hanging down in front of passenger side front wheel, pulled it up through and it’s connected by two wires to something beside the radiator. End is hard plastic and rubber seal on it.

Google eventually told me it's the ambient temp sensor so crisis averted.
