Hey guys so I got this wee (massive) gem yesterday. 42000 miles and would like to start tidying it up..

First will be getting the car completely checked over a good thorough clean.

Would like to sort out some of the bodywork and refurb the wheels.

Cracking motor šŸ‘Œ. Had a 2.5TDI a few years back also in the same olive green. Also had a couple of 10V SEā€™s. Never seen one with that sort of mileage, excellent find.

Not too sure if its a 10v or 20v havent spent too much time with it apart from cleaning it so far. Is there an easy way to check?

Just took it over 42k today!

Ah great thanks! Some wee niggles needing sorted out.

Rear washer jets not working, pump makes a noise but no water so maybe a disconnected pipe somewhere or blocked pipe. Not sure how easy it will be to take trim off without breaking the plastic on such an old car.

Volvo's!
There's a joint in the D post which usually blows off in the winter when the jet freezes. Spare wheel well will probably be like a well too!

shes a 20v 190bhp 10v is only 140 quickest check is the 20v says it on engine cover usually the 5 cyc 20v na is a lovely sounding engine ...
190 brake turbo so itā€™ll be a 20V. The 20V normally has it on the engine cover and your engine code. 20V should be B5244, 10V is b5242, if my memory serves me right šŸ¤”

sorry I just realised I said exactly everything you did and I donā€™t know how to delete the post lol

Took a look under the spare wheel cover and couldnt see any pipes for the rear washer and behind the d pillar the connection was intact.. couldnt hear or see any water or water noises either when button was pushed..

Any other ideas what else i could check?

They need a refurb because of a bit corrosion but yea theyre in good enough condition. I'm not sure if theyre really my cuppa tea to be honest i think they might look better a slightly darker grey?

Oh do them in whatever colour you like, I prefer them slightly darker too. A lot of people use a dark grey Peugeot colour. The original colour was a special gunmetal grey Volvo colour. I have the codes for both somewhere.

They're just very rare and sought after, and all but unobtainable. They were only ever used on the 1995 850 T-5R, itself a limited edition model.

Im experiencing some rubbing on the inner arch liners on full lock with the wheels, not sure if they are a wrong offset or if there are some worn steering stops or limiters. Is this a common issue on these v70s?

It's an 850/V70 thing with larger wheels like the Titan. The Titans were only used on the 850 T-5R, and Volvo did a tweak to the steering arms on that car to make them work. At the time in 1995 17" was a huge wheel, lol.

The tweak basically reduces the amount the wheels can turn to stop the rubbing at full lock. You can buy a kit from Scandix.

Volvo also used very low profile tyres on these wheels for the same reason.

C70 steering bump stops cures it, so does not turning the steering full lock šŸ¤£
