What way is it going after the work at BBR?
I’ve only had a quick 5 minute run in it but it’s a different car altogether. The standard ND1 2.0 engine is unwilling to rev and feels like it being held back. It now pulls really smooth right up to the limiter, which is also about 1000rpm higher than before. With our crappy fuel it got 199bhp so with some 99 it should get a few more as these engines with their high compression 13.5:1 apparently benefit from it.

Also the wheel alignment was badly out too! Now with a set of springs and alignment redone it’s a lot more settled.

Good work Adam. It’s unreal the difference tuning and light mods can make to how a car actually feels to drive.
Well setup and tuned car makes you love it
A poor tune makes you want to sell it. Or burn it. Lol

First I've seen the thread! I'm a big MX5 fan, so I love it. The recaros are epic. I loved my NC and I would love another MX5 at some point. Good to see you're making meaningful improvements, I'm sure you'll love it. Enjoy😁

I'll bet thats serious fun to drive now and sounding a lot more eager.

Matt graphite on the wheels for sure. Better in all areas imo. Nicer looking than black and better for brake dust. Almost like they were an optional extra.

Thanks guys for the comments.
Fitted the Mazda 6 boot opening switch this evening. I was a surprised to find a wired plug inserted into the blanking plate. I just had to find the right wire to trigger the boot and piggyback onto it. It even lights up like the other switches 👌🏻

Think it's a cost saving measure in the factories. Fit a standard loom during build, and tie back and blank off any options not on the build list.

My last XF I was able to fit illuminated tread plates by ripping out the old ones, cutting out the tape holding the plugs and wires folded back onto the loom and fitted easily enough.

With the wheels off for the brakes I was able to get at the orange indicator bulbs through the arch liner. I gave them a light dusting of silver paint which doesn’t seem to have affected the output much, and got rid of the orange reflection.

Just getting round to updating the small mods done to the car. I fitted a new wind deflector a while ago - it gives better visibility out of the car and reduces the wind buffering slightly.

More small updates:

I bought a set of LED number plate lights but they were excessively bright. Before binning them I tried a few coats of black paint, which have cut the light enough, not as bright in real life as the photo shows. Also swapped out the rubber door bushings for delrin ones, supposed to firm up the car a bit. And fitted some (slightly tacky) sequential indicators.

What a noise!! BBR certainly got it revving!

What version of a go pro is this? Audio is excellent.... that the inbuilt mic or a remote mic away from the wind?

Cheers Johnny! It is the GoPro Hero 10. It’s just the in-built mic but cause it was on the bumper the wind didn’t get at it. I’m going to buy the foam wind blocker for it, as I tried another video with it on the quarter panel and the wind was obvious.

Does sound class, a nice subtle set of mods make the car so much more enjoyable to drive.
