That is tidy man! Always fancied one of these myself, but people keep telling me that they’re small inside due to being based on the mk4 golf platform.

Absolute nonsense. Loads of room in them for a mid 00s saloon car. Boot is huge and they really aren't bad on fuel if everything is running right on it and you're easy on the throttle.

Get that 320 swapped for one Brian :p

@PieMan1 Lovely motor and glad it's gone to a good home. Fancied buying it myself to be honest when I saw it come up in the classifieds but just bad timing with us buying a house at the min.

Health to enjoy (y)

Went round the car with Maguires compound and some wax after ( all by hand 💤💤) it's came up well , has its fair share of stone chips but definitely an improvement.

Timing belt & waterpump on Thursday, will see if I can get the thermostat done at the same time as they seem like abit of pain on this.

Oil pickup and gaskets have been ordered so that's next weekends job.

On the way to work this morning and the engine light came on , same code - system 1 bank too rich,

I had my cheap code reader with me and took pics of the data stream.

is there anything that is obviously not right?

Car was driving about 20mins when these pics were taken.

on a better note I've ordered bonnet & boot badges , centre caps, an oil dipstick as the one I have is brittle and I have fears of It dropping bits into the sump . and 3metres of 3mm and 4mm vac line.

It should move with load on it, if it doesn't, i'd be looking at the o2 sensor.
What mpg is is displaying on the longterm MFA setting?

Wee hair low but depends on driving i suppose. Saying that, the last time i needed an o2 sensor the mpg was marginally better than normal🤣
What part of the world are you in?

Honestly not driving it too far mate, Dunmurry to the Lisburn road via the blacks road on slip , I'm still in the stage of listening to the diverter valve lol .

I will check the lambda reading on the way home, I assume the value will increase from the original number.

If I'm about over the weekend, I'll give you a shout, maybe cast my eye over it for you. Stevie Taylor at Flush Road motors (based on Finaghy Road North i think) knows the 1.8t quiye well if you're stuck. Wife isnt so well at the minute so can't guarantee anything.
The lambda reading should move, yeah.

Top man , no big issues if not hope your wife is OK.

On the lambda reading it drops to 0.7xx and goes to 2.000 when off the throttle cruising

So car got a timing belt & new water pump this week down by a local mechanic .

I tacked the oil pickup . Easy enough job , about 3 hours all in . New return gasket , oil pickup & seal. This car has been serviced religiously. And the pickup was still abit clogged.
20210306_154341.jpg

So a job worth doing.
Put a new dipstick in while I was at it as the old one was stupid brittle

Finally I put a new bonnet badge.
Ordered a boot one but it's too big.

mot on the 20th.

Car will most likely be going up for sale after this.

Tackled the interior this weekend as cream carpets are an absolute nightmare.

I don't have a wet vac, all I had was a carpet cleaner and a stiff bristle brush, and a couple of microfibres.

dressed the interior plastics too.

That’s the thing that puts me off these, especially as I have four kids lol

You'd be right to have that put you off as its a nightmare kept.

as said above boys have said a mk4 golf carpet fits in perfect. so might have to do that if I keep it.

Met a forum member today for a forge diverter valve but on the way over it picked up the most savage of misfires , spluttering around 750rpm and dying out at times 🙄 no engine lights or anything like that but noticeably down on power :worried: not what I need 4 days before mot.
