Another small update from me.

Please bear with me as I am using this as a bit of a log of my ownership.

A very common issue on the E9x cars is the BMW badge on the airbag begins to oxidise and this is no different on my car. Apparently you can change the badge but its glued onto the airbag and from what ive read online theres a higher probability of destroying the airbag.

So I have a couple of options

  • Replace the airbag for a new one - bit silly over a badge
  • Attempt to remove the old badge with out destroying the airbag
  • Buy an overlay badge to cover the old badge
So this is what I got a replacement overlay badge

The old oxidised badge which was annoying the life out of me

And the replacement fitted

Also my car has a carbon interior trim in it and I am not the biggest fan of carbon so have been toying with changing it and have seen a lot of people on tbe M3 forums reskinning or spraying their interior trims or wrapping them

Thinking of a brushed metal wrap or spraying it a graphite colour but as there is zero damage on the existing trims picked this up for a tenner on ebay to try some stuff on and if I don’t like it or make a balls of it the original trims are there untouched.

Defintely open to suggestions for ideas on what to do

Was thinking that, what would be the best way to achieve that finish? Wrap i am guessing?
As long as the finish you’re applying to is smooth then wrap would be the way to go. Just make sure it’s a decent quality vinyl from a reputable brand

Another small update from me.

The top brake light was doing my head in as it had a few dead bugs in it that have been bleached white so they have been there a while but its the little details that can make or break a car so it has to be sorted.

Thought before I wash the car may as well tackle this

Cover removed to expose the brake light.

Dropped it out gave it all a good clean and reinstalled. Much better now.

Ordered a set of LCI tail lights thanks to a good offer @Lyons spotted. Got round to fitting them yesterday evening and the passenger indicator has a failed LED so they have to go back for a replacement.

Also going to give Michael a shot next week about getting the alloys refurbed in shadow chrome then next on the list will be an oil change, plug change and diff oil change.

So a bit more work on the M3 today.

Ever since I got it the wheels were kerbed. Not badly look good from afar but drove my OCD insane.

So off they came and will be going tomorrow to get painted shadow chrome as I hate diamond cut with a passion.

Got the car up on the lift today.

Lock nut key decided to break so a 20 min job quickly became a 3 hour job but thankfully got all the nuts off without damaging anything so won’t have to part with any crisp fivers.

Centre caps are past their best so will be replaced.

So thats the car sitting for a few days in my shed whilst the wheels get done.

Very interested to see how the wheels turn out. Mine need done as well and I'm also not a fan of diamond cut. Pics when finished please.

So got a text from Michael this morning to say the wheels are done.

Fantastic job less than a 24 hour turn around time and I am really happy with the colour and the finish.

Going to pick them up tomorrow as want to borrow my Dad’s estate car to avoid scratching them as my daily might be a bit too small to bring them home😂

They're lovely.

Kind of wish I'd have went for that colour when he did mine now I see it.

Got the wheels onto the car this evening.

Really happy with them the finish is fantastic and its as close to a diamond cut finish as a painted surface can be so I am very happy.

The centre caps and the M badges are still missing as I am still awaiting on them arriving.

Sorry for the dirt of the car haven’t washed it since it came out of the shed.
