Just over a year with the FSTI. I’m still loving it. The only negatives would be the MOT test :joy: and the noisy exhaust makes long motorway journeys a chore. And the 22mpg-25mpg ain’t great, especially when I only ever put Super in it.
On the plus side; The prices for all JDM imports have gone crazy this last year so I’m glad I bought mine when I did. Looking at prices atm, it looks like FSTI’s have gone up 20%-25% in one year. Which is nuts!
No updates other than I recently got the wheels refurbished by MJE in Cookstown and I’m well chuffed with the results. I opted to go as close to factory stock as possible instead of a colour change.
I also had them ceramic coated by Dunlop Detailing before I fitted them back on the car so they should be easy to clean for a while.
Also I fitted my Rally Armour mud flaps to help protect the paint, I actually like the way they look which was a surprise.

:joy: Kinda glad he never replied.
In all fairness it was a nice motor and well spec'd. I kinda have an inkling for one too but then I drive the foz and all is forgiven. Think the ease of extra power is more appealing on the evolution though as realistically my next step is forging and it won't be cheap

I still think the Evo Wagon would be a better weekend car but the Forester is a better daily. I would love to drive one though, just to be sure. :joy:

One thing that has annoyed me about the car was the sticky climate control dials. This seems to be a continuing theme among Japanese cars from the 90’s - early 2000’s. When the car was with Torque GT, they sprayed the centre console so it was no longer sticky, but they didn’t swap the dials.
I managed to get some new ones from Japanparts.com and went about swapping them. It was fiddly enough and for once I couldn’t find a YouTube video to help. :joy: Though now I know what to do, it’s probably only a 15 minute job.

They look so much better, only wish I did it sooner.

Where did you get them from? Rhdjapan? Thinking about a set myself, mine aren't too bad but it's the only thing that lets the interior down

I spotted this a couple of weeks ago in Bangor near Bloomfields, one cool looking wagon

What's this jobber here?

It’s connected to the dials above the centre console. It sets the warning light on the boost gauge and you can set a warning light on the water temp and oil temp as well. I’m not sure if it actually allows me to add more boost, probably not. To be honest I’ve never touched it. :joy: I’m scared I do something and then not be able to put it back the way it was.
Apparently it’s a very rare factory option. 🤷‍♂️

What kind of barbarian changes the heat controls by palming the front of the dial? How could there possibly be that much wear on the face of it 😲

Looks miles better now

Very common problem with jdm foresters. I've yet to see an sti that has the original finish on the center console as that goes as well. One of the first things I done on mine was to rub it all down and get it hydro dipped but my switch covers weren't too bad so I left them be. They become soft and sticky and can rub off if you get too rash with cleaning

The one on the right turns the A/C on and off when pushed and controls the temp as well, so makes sense it takes the most abuse. Though it seems to a common thing that they end up like that.

Believe it or not. The Forester is for sale. I absolutely love this car but there’s something else on the way and I can’t afford to keep both, so it needs to go.

I had @Reno_LV take some pictures over the weekend to help with the sale, and I also wanted to have some nice pictures to remind me of it when it goes. :sob:

The plan is to take it back over to Torque GT next month and have them sell it.
They currently have 4 people on their consignment list so they don’t expect it to even reach their website.
If anyone wants to buy it and save me the effort of getting it over to them, then give me a shout.

That has R Kings or local raffle sites written all over it
I was thinking that. Though I think I’m too attached to it for that to happen. This makes me sound like prat, I know. Obviously it could go to a winner who really appreciates it and looks after it. Though then it could also go to someone who very much won’t.

edit.
I am being a prat. I could just as easily sell it to someone who completely abuses it and destroys it within a month.

I get what you mean. We all remember the donuts in the "wincam". To some the cars are to be treasured and appreciated, to others they are a £20 toy to be abused.

Torque might even cover the transport costs, you could ask and see.

No need. I actually want to take it over for a last road trip. I plan to do the Morgan factory tour, stay over night in Caffeine and Machine and pop into Clarksons farm shop for a laugh. Then torque will give me a lift to the airport when I drop off the car.
My dad wants to come so I won’t be on my own.
If someone buys the car before I go, I still think I’ll do the trip in the Z3 and get the ferry back. 👍
