Welcome! If you clicked in to this thread then you’re more than likely a Volvo beard. I can’t imagine anyone else will.
So put on your tan coloured chinos, your supermarket bought jumper and your best boat shoes. Grab a cup of tea in a styrofoam cup bought from the chip van at your nearest lay-by and sit down to my Volvo barge thread.
My daily beater is currently a 2006 Mazda 3 Sport saloon.
2 litres and 150bhp of rusty Jap goodness. It’s been in our family since new and I’ve owned it for 5yrs. I just put a set of Eibach springs in it and a set of RX8 wheels, and it’s not just ticked over 80,000 miles. It’s been a very reliable wee motor but it is getting a bit tatty and now there’s a baby in the house I wanted something a bit bigger.
For the last 6 months I’ve been on the look out for a replacement. Main criteria is it must be petrol and an estate. I was looking for an Octavia VRS estate, Superb 3.2 estate, Legacy 3.0 R Spec B or Volvo V70 T5.
So let me introduce my 2007 Volvo S80 2.4d.
There’s very little decent stuff out there and anything interesting seems to have skyrocketed in price. A friend told me he was selling his S80 and at a very good price and knowing the car was a bonus.
It’s a 2.4 5 cylinder SE model with a couple of extra options and lived in the south of England it’s whole life. MOT history has been uneventful and it’s previously had a remap.
Look-wise I know it’s not exciting but I still think it looks smart. The paint needs a good machining but I think the colour will come out well once done. The engine is definitely the best part for me being 5 cylinder, even if it isn’t petrol. It’s a bit laggy but can go when it needs to. They do sound well with a straight pipe
Comfort is amazing. The day after I bought it I drove up to Portstewart for a few days and it just wafted about all week. The seats are the comfiest I’ve ever sat in.
I know nothing about these so have a bit of reading up to do. It has Bluetooth but calls only - no streaming, so would like that sorted. Air-con is non existent and needs attention. One of the door randomly doesn’t always lock. It has wood trim which I’d want to replace with the aluminium option. Paint is in need of a machine polish and I’d love to get the wheels refurbed. Other than that I’m not sure whether to do anything else other than just snort about in it in my slippers whilst smoking a pipe.
