I dediced a couple of months ago that the Mini wasn't going to cut it size wise, it was fine for me pottering about but it was time for something bigger.
I looked at a couple of options (a4 avant/a4 coupe/330d/a3/Golf R) and every time I couldn't think of something they all did better than the GTD.
I had looked at a couple and there was always something missing, I said the minimum I wanted was heated seats and sat nav. Ballyrobert called me one day to say this car was on route to them and the deal was done. Ballyrobert were brilliant to deal with actually, top service (y). They refurbed the wheels prior to collection and GuardX'd the interior FOC.
Its a 2015 Mk7 GTD DSG with Nav, Reversing camera, heated seats and keyless entry.
Plans;
  • Ceramic coating from @big_pete
  • Possibly lowered and spacers
  • Number plate on - done

Very nice Chris, super all rounder. The keyless entry/start is a great job.

You'll not be disappointed with that(y)

My neighbour just swapped his GTD for an A5, still can't understand why:worried:

@Bronk thanks - what springs did you go for? I put H&R’s in my mk5 GTi and loved them, I’m swayed towards them at the minute.
@big_pete thanks Pete, I’ll like it even more when it’s properly shiny ;)

Great choice. I’ve had mine from February and been racking the miles up and loving every mile. Enjoy it

Thanks for all the comments, really like the car and had intended to keep it standard but im seriously considering lowering and spacers now.
I'm pretty set on 12mm all round and probably H&R springs.

Anyone have any advise on the idea above?

I have VWR springs in mine and would highly rate them.

Spacer wise I run 20mm rear and 12mm fronts. Quite fat - 12mm all round will be spot on

I’m going for the VWR springs and 12mm hopefully next month.
