Is this the car that was at one of the local indoor shows last year? Can't remember which one, possibly Dubshed or one of the ILB shows. Looks great.

Chap I know has the SR20 engine in his AE86, absolute weapon!

Sr20 is a fantastic engine. Can’t wait to have something running one again

I'd be good mates with Mathew. His mk2 is unreal. No expense spared, and many years of long hard hours worked, both at his car and working for others to gather up the funds for parts. If it needs it, it gets it - no expense spared.

The driving sensation is unlike anything. The noise and the way it explodes you up the road is second only to the handling set up. The first time he took me for a run I thought he was trying to kill us the rate he threw it into the first corner, but the mk2 handles everything he could throw at it. Such a capable car.

There couldn't be too many road-legal cars that would get up a twisty country road at the rate this thing does! It has completely ruined my comprehension of what a fast car is - many hours were spent contemplating westfields, atoms, etc. in an effort to recreate the feeling you get during a run in this motor!!

@Graham did he take you for a run in it? Having been in some hot machinery I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on how it compares?

A car
Ruined

It’s fully awesome and running a more reliable power plant than a Turbo duratec !
Got a look around it at a cars & coffee last year and the attention to detail and build quality was very impressive indeed

Yes, he took me a decent scelp, I was all over it tbh, as my dream ride is pretty much this exact car, only with the YB engine from a cossie.

It covered ground as expected and as you mention, handles better than you'd maybe imagine.

To me, this is a proper car, and the engine will prove much more reliable at that power than a ford unit tbh so a wise move.

I am biased towards a mk2 though, it was a grp4 rally car that I drove my wife away from the ceremony in, around belfast city centre

He's a tormented soul lol.

Big into his rallying and a true Ford man, but he's also obsessed with the big powerful jap power-plants. His brothers S15 is right up there in terms of mental, and I can't wait to see what the 180sx he has now took into will end up like!

Did ford even build anything capable of 410bhp back in the 70s?
for the road. . no.... for the track. . absolutely Capri had a Cosworth tuned 1500cc or so unit at over 500hp.

As the article says. thats not a car for Ford purists but its a lovely project and must be handy having AB as your uncle.

What was that? some kind of 1500BDT Engine? Zakspeed?

Escort looks great, hard to beat the original Grp4 bodywork in white, who cares what donkey it has as long as it goes well! Cosworth stuff has got out of hand lately!

Think so, the Group 5 Capri touring car. Didn't realise it was 1500cc until it featured on the Goodwood coverage.

That Escort is some machine. Great feature.
