As above. Cant get the thoughts of something I can neither afford nor need for some weekend fun to take the edge off the winter months. Been looking on the usual spots but nothing is really grabbing me.

Thinking the likes of below, something clean & well sorted & not needing any money spent. Don't need anything with too many mod cons or luxury;

Clio 172/182/197
Focus ST
Impreza WRX
Cooper S

Open to suggestions.

Thanks in advance

I’d go for a Clio Trophy. They should be going up in value, so think of it as an investment!

Was actually looking at that one earlier but the below put me off at £4K

Bad points

There is a sport of rust bubbling on the bonnet (common on mk2s)

Lacquer peel on the bonnet

A crack on the rear bumper

CV joint clacks when turning sharply

needs tracking after Ball joint change

Amber warning light with OBD code P0130 O2 sensor

It does has some small dents from supermarket car parts, etc.

135,000 miles
197 probably ticks every box for you, maybe a bit more would get you a 200

The likes of this with the conversion would be some fun

R53 Mini all the way. You'd even have change for a good few mods.

Like Boxsters, though that one looks like a massive headache

This one looks good but well over budget

How about a Z4?

Nice that, there’s a 3.0lt for £3750 local, though as good as the wheels look I think they’d ruin the handling

Had spied that one Barry, would prefer another R53 with all the horror stories around the R56’s

19s are a bit big for them, 18"with non run flats is the best combo. Great fun cars for the money and the 6cyl sounds glorious with the roof down

That one seems to be gone, think the ad was 4 weeks old though.

Had a 2.8 wide body before, gutted the cat, it sounded and went well!
Got a bit excited about this @Burt2000 Was for blowing the budget then the location rang a bell ... you’ll know who!

Also closer inspection of the rear passenger quarter and door would suggest it isn’t that fresh at all...

Would you drive a TT? There’s a few 3.2 V6 ones about, I’m sure they would sound great with a set of pipes on. Plenty of nice clio 182’s well within budget just not many locally 8-(

bit different to your other suggestion's but would an E46 325ci convertible interest you? Last of them as its a 2006 and just over 70k miles, needs nothing. Black. isofix in the rear if you need to consider car seats.

Might be putting this up for sale soon. 98k, FSH, new pads and discs, on eibach springs, 320hp. Heated seats, sat nav and xenons. Will have a full years MOT this Friday. PM if you’re possibly interested
