Go with a new egr thermo would be my advice.
EGR is still there but I suppose you are asl ikely to get the full egr/ anti shudder as the anti shudder on its own.
EDIT; I have an old EGR thermo that you can take the end off if you think that one is working?
Removed from my car when i did the engine stat. I think they are all the same between 525, 530, 535

I have 2 other 530d but not sports. Never knew until I went to remove that they were different
