Cant believe the interest this thread has generated. Its great to see so many of you interested in this build! This was as much to be a build log for me as anything!
Update from Painter today! =) V.close now.
Underside and engine bay painted and lacquered. Most of it masked off in these photos but you'll see all soon enough.
Seeing the front wings back on and the shell with both front and rear arches fitted really helps the look of the car. Much more aggressive. I always felt the nose leaning slightly forward at the front was aggressive in itself. In the same way the nose of an e30 or an e24 635 leans forward, granted the bmws have more of a shark nose point on them. I guess the point im making is that I feel the Kadett C coupe really lends itself to a decent set of Grp4 wide arches. =) Anyway, theres not turning back now! =)

Kieran is a gent! Every time I see him I ask him about getting out on the stages again. The Worx livery is class but I didn’t want to just do a replica car. Plus plenty of yellow/black ones about in Uk so just figured I’d do something coMpletely different inspired by a Gerent Hillclimb build!FM155

He has done timing on the Dundrod paddock tests for a few years on the Boxing Day targa rally, fair play to him, as you say a gent. I used to walk past his house on my way back from school when he was building cars in the front garden out in the open, serious dedication!

Just received this while at work! Finally a bit of colour being laid down on her after waaaaay too long. Prep work was great though so here’s hoping the finish is as good. That’s the bottom half of her in colour just the top and the interior to go!

Called in today, Plan is to re-mask the bottom now that its had 24 hours to dry. Then spray the top half of the split/bonnet/boot lid/top half of doors, Leave for 24hours then Clear coat it. The clear will sit and cure for a week or so before they mask it to spray the inside/cage. So I'm told! Be interesting to see the difference in this Paint when it's clear coated.
