Absolutely fantastic work and fair ****s doing a lot of that yourself! You're also a brave man getting the Dremel out One of the most interesting threads in here
With dubshed fast approaching I needed to get the coilovers fitted, obviously the only day that suited me and my friend in Greyabbey with the garage and airtools etc was the saturday before dubshed
The H&R springs did a fine enough job but just didn't sit low enough, especially at the front.
BC racing coilovers seem to be very well put together, got them in along with a new drivers side steering arm
CompBrake solid top mounts fitted as well. The rubber bush factory top mounts wear down quickly, especially when lowered, so these should in theory never need replacing and provide much better ride quality
Didn't take any pics of the rears fitted as we were running out of time but here's a side by side of the springs vs the rear coilovers
But this stage of the day we didn't have enough time to start adjusting the heights, I had to get back up the road. But generally pleased with the way it's progressing
This was running none of the previous spacers
Oh and the drive from Greyabbey to Ards was fairly hairy with the front wheels pointing outwards in opposite directions
Wouldn't be the week before Dubshed without stuff to sort. Given that it was the second week of kids easter holidays I had to fit trying to get the ride height down between trips to the North Coast, fermanagh and Dublin in the daily
By the middle of the week I was running no rear spacer and a 20mm spacer up front
My middle child was 'helping' at one point
It's a fiddly slow process working on a stone drive with a crap array of tools, but needs must.
Friday night in the rain I had a go at trying to point the wheels in one direction.
Switched the front to a 15mm spacer with the plan to go to Fosters on the way to dubshed to get some partworns in a 225/40 as I wanted a bit more of a square sidewall compared to the 205/40 18 that was on it. The front tyres were scrap after driving with poor alignment for so long, so needed changed no matter the size
The morning of Dubshed I drove it to derriaghy and quickly realised my driveway alignment had made things even worse and it was horrific to drive had to crawl at 30 most of the way
Got there for them opening at 8.30 and they didn't have any part worns in either 205 or 225, so had no choice but to buy some cheap new 225/40 and get them to align the steering enough to get me to the eikon centre
Managed to make it into the hall at Dubshed for 10.45
I'm loving the height it's now sitting at and the wider profile just fills out the arches just right
Of course I got placed directly opposite Derek's immaculate real s2 with perfect paint and 600bhp big turbo 5cyl engine bay
Standard of cars at dubshed in both halls is an unreal level that my car will take a bucket load of work to ever be in with a chance of winning any trophies. Ideally the paintwork is letting it down most, but the cost of a full respray just isn't within my reach at the moment.
Wife and kids were in on the second day, eldest two couldn't care any less about cars, only interested in the sweet stands lol But my youngest is properly car obsessed and had a ball
