As said earlier Jack great figures from it, it'll be an experience to drive hard on the road that's for sure!

Christ, that's one sprightly Polo 😁 Bet that is a laugh and a half now!

Well done
cheers mate to be honest its a serious laugh still haven't had the courage of opening it up yet to see what it can do as the English roads are not like ours back home, theirs a cop around every corner already a few close calls.
Wont be long now I'm sure, their will be a few more updates in the coming weeks

Definitely be careful in England! Cops, plus every road congested, no matter how remote. So much more relaxed here, lol.

so its been a while since i last posted as iv just been enjoying the car and trying to save and put money away for the likes of a house but last weekend i had a misfortunate occurrence of my suspension failing at the entrance to my girlfriends flat.

upon further inspection i found this and i wasn't one bit pleased as its something i have been putting of for a long time.

So snapped rear passenger spring was not something i was planning on breaking, so i had no other option but to replace the hole system just a few days before i was about to go back to England.

I'm actually glad it happened at home and not on the way to London.

Next port of call was a set of bc racing v1 with mk5 adjustable top mounts which luckily a friend had some sitting around and was looking rid of them to buy some H&R top mounts.

Thanks @cj_mcc

So here we go and here is the process

First off was to pull out the old suspension.
Its safe to say they were done as i pulled the rear p side out in 3 pieces with a busted shock and the drivers side out in 2 pieces.

That was the most i could get done for that day as i was still waiting on the BC to arrive and getting piss wrapped with the rain.

Tuesday came and we had a delivery which only took 3 days so hats of to the guy that got them for me for trade price and shipped them straight from the bc warehouse.

so if anyone wants his name and details he will be more than happy to help drop me a message and ill put you in touch with him

DELIVERY DAY

I stared where the heart of the problem was and that was at the rear which went in without a hitch.

Things were going very smoothly.

then onto the fronts

so the process i had to go through to fit the mk5 top mounts was to drill out the top of the top hat do allow me acess to the camber adjustment and to drill out the 3 mounting holes with a set up bit to allow the mounts to fit

236683563_4427200557338617_6994271667040603515_n.jpg

so this was something i wasn't happy with doing but it was late and i didn't want to go out and buy 2 hole saw bits to drill them out so it was the hard way of drilling multiple holes and cut out the area with an air saw.

don't knock it if it works 🤷‍♂️

also currently trying to find somewhere that will make me a new chassis sticker to keep things clean and ill probably mount it on the side of the tower wall

235940858_4427200630671943_8631462521246155811_n.jpg

Then onto burring out the area with a Dremel and a carbide burr and paint prep

so after all that it was also going very straight forward with no issues until it came to building the shocks with the top mount fitted.

as seen above the collar bolt that held the strut together above the swivel bearing on the top mount was the wrong size.

but thankfully a good friend in England had a spare set of his polo, so he sent them over to me first class tracked for next day delivery.

so once they arrived all i had to do was reassemble the shock and reset the preload to 4mm to account for the mk5 top mount.

And in they went with fresh rear hub bolts to hold the shock into the hub.

the threads are wrapped in some grease and cling film until i can get some socks for them to keep the grit and grime out

After that it was time to throw all wheels back on and take it for a bumpy drive and get the alignment set for heading back to England

only thing that bugs me is the ride Hight for now but it will have to do for getting on and off the boat carrying weight.

236811533_4427218460670160_7498424919419207902_n.jpg

i strongly recommend doing this for anyone that owns one of these polos, it changes the car completely

if anyone has any questions feel free to drop me a message and ill try and help you out to the best of my ability

now off to England again and ill drop it as much as i can when i get their though, i do have a feeling i might need shorter springs with the same rebound rate.

thanks for having a look

Jack ✌️

Good stuff mate! I’d say maybe 15-20mm lower and it’d look the tits! Doesn’t need to be slammed 😎

when are you fitting a DQ250? 👀

The plan is to just get it down but for now just to make things easy and somewhat comfortable keep it the way it is for the trip to london sam but after that who knows the springs that are in it might do the trick but iv yet to find out 🤷‍♂️

And that dq250 is when that greabox desides to blow might even throw in a garet turbo while im at it 🤣
Fair play tackling that yourself, not many would cut up their own car!
Thanks pall didnt really have to much fear as im constantly cutting up @jayme hills mini 🤣 its become quite the past time never knew i was that skilled with a grinder

Makes sense to keep the ride height where it is for now and use the England trip to let everything settle and bed in. Springs can take a while to settle.

Then get the ride height even and set whatever way you want it when you get back.
