As much as I loved the p38 I have just always wanted a defender since I was can remember. Getting married in 2020 so had to do it now or else I’d definitely not be allowed one lol.

They have a lot of street cred nowadays. I was Landrover nuts as a teenager....got it out of my system early with a Series 3 as first car. Piles of charm and good in a field, awful in all other ways :joy:. The Defender was a big improvement in refinement, brakes, handling etc if that gives some idea.

Love that defender, looks brilliant, and great to see you taking them off the road too

Tho I’m worse I actually have 3 near complete 1996 P38’s in the same blue and all 2.5 engined :joy:

So that's nearly one working car between them then :joy::innocent:

The back needed a bit of a tidy up so decided to spray it with bed liner just to tidy it up before I get carpets for it.

Need to get 30mm wheel spacers ordered now and either a momo prototipo or a nice nardi.

I fitted an Optimill quick release boss to a friends 90 last year and it was a great job. It allows him to remove the steering wheel to aide getting in and out, and with the paired Optimill steering boss lock, it adds a lot of extra security to his heavily modified and very clean example of a 90, with the security side of things being worth the £300 alone for both items.

Have a look online at them for an idea.

Well it’s still for sale but got the chance to give it a good clean after hopefully the worst of the winter.

Another coat of navi wax ultimate.

Also had an old momo steering wheel that came on the supra so decided to throw that on.

Bought a cheap Bluetooth speaker as well and it works really well. Wanted to keep the original no radio look so that was the next best thing. Also thought I’d have a go at making a few coat hooks from old shotgun cartridges.

Came out ok for a first attempt. Could probably do with a better base than blends in a bit more.

Defender is away to Suffolk now. I had to feel sorry for the guy driving it the whole way there. New car sorted in the form of a 2007 discovery 3 HSE

Pic from the day I lifted it in Liverpool

Then got it home and a quick wash.

Got to spend the day cleaning it and it got a bit of a gloss buff and a coat of navi wax.

It’s got a disco 4 grill and wheels but it came with the original 19’s.

So far I’m loving it. Plans at the minute are just egr delete and a decat.

Had a free Saturday evening so got a bit more cleaning done. It’s booked in to have the electric handbrake serviced.

Lifted and big tyres make it. Don’t see many of these camper things around Northern Ireland.

After nearly 10 months of ownership I still love it. So far I’ve blanked the egr and had it remapped. Really has made a big difference to it. Also added 30mm spacers all round as well as the standard 19’s.

Then after fitting 2 new rear upper arms due to there literally being no bush left I fitted some nice all terrains. Went for Goodyear wrangler duratracs. Brilliant tyre so far.

I still have a decat pipe to get fitted and then it’s off to get the belts done. Had to fit a new boost pipe after my old one splitting too.

Lovely disco bud

I bought one out of England in March 2019. Lovely spec, full history everything perfect. Unfortunately as soon as I got her home handbrake failed, suspension faults and rear windows parcked. So was sent back to the dealer. Still miss it though

Not much of an update but she’s being used as a van these days after buying a house. Gave her a bit of a clean over lockdown. Machined using a one step process and then given a coat of navi wax.

Will need the inside given a good once over at some stage once it’s not being used as a van.
