@gpaevo I take it you’ve used IC before? I walked in before Xmas to drop my wheels off and every set of wheels I saw sitting out drying had marks on them. A guy was loading a set of grey Audi rims into a van and I could see they were poor. I actually just left at that stage and decided I wouldn’t risk it. Just my observations on that day.

Have a set back from Michael this week and the finish is flawless, even if I’m not sure about the colour yet!

I’m a retail customer lol. Though to be fair I did get a price off Carsmetic which is part of Hursts where I work and they quoted me £55 per wheel plus VAT....that was for staff lol.
Yes possible but that are for wet paint no for oem finish , ask for full strip etc then u get answer

So I'm looking a set of 18's done. Called polished alloys and he quoted me £240. I'm going back to IC Powdercoaters for £180. Considerably better job to.

I remember when polished alloys used to be £140 a set.
Yeah is far cheaper due he use industrial powder coating which is not approve for alloys wheels. Might for u and for most of people not important but we are specialist in alloy wheels refurb and only use only approved system which gave us oem finish

I got a recent quote from Polished Alloys, simple colour change on a new set of wheels. Quote was £260 plus VAT. To put that in perspective I also contacted Nu Luk who quoted me £300 plus VAT. All I remember hearing is how Polished Alloys are so cheap and Nu Luk so expensive lol. No doubt Michael has heavily invested but like you I remember paying around £140 a set - long gone are those days!
Yes that right I was like 140 per set etc but due invested big money and is 7 of us to work I have to lift up price and all. Now u can thinking nu luk is the best coa u pay what u get or cos have lots bills to pay too . Price not always reflected finish as u can pay big money and u get poor job

That’s fair enough Michael, your prices have been far cheaper than everywhere else for years.

I’ll be in touch about a set when I get Tyres in a few weeks.

I completely understand and appreciate that Michael. After having several sets refurbished by yourself I can’t knock your work at all - I can’t speak about Nu Luks work as I’ve never used them. This time around I chose to try out someone completely different.

original stock 18" anthracite Geminis re-done in gloss black and diamond cut, these required a bit of welding as the PO was really careless. Done at David McIntyre's Alloy clinic in Coleraine. Can't fault them. No blemishes and they even balanced, fitted new tyres included in the price (balance weights colour coded to the wheel as well!). Left them in Monday and picked them up first thing Wednesday morning. top job!!

@polishingalloys are you able to do the “Audi Sport” logo on the alloy during a full refurb? Almost all new Audi alloys have this located at the valve.

I got a quote from their Aberdeen branch, 4 alloy wheels, standard powdercoat finish, full refurb, me supplying the wheels loose with tyres on:- £370!

They seem popular here as they can do a same day job. At £92 a wheel, I passed...

what size of wheels, that would be an important factor.

I was just quoted for £5 per inch for a set of 20s that need nothing more than a refinish (no damage, just clear coat breaking down) and it was £400.

Hi. Yes as u asking for ceramic polishing ( ball polishing ) so is totally different stage of finish and work with thay. And is not just your lacquer break down. U have fully polishing alloys which is clear coated only.
I'm charge less than other for that feel free to ask in England for that and u be suprise how much is cost .
Ine alloys take about 36 hrs to polishing in 3 stage process and use about 3000 lt of water about 5 litre special compound which cost about 3 pounds per litre so now u can calculate what cost they are and what profit I have. I'm not even said about media which need to be used for polishing and stripping lacquer remove refit and rebalancing wheels.
Thanks Michael
