Went to Alloy Wheel Repair Specialists in Dundonald during the week. Impressive workshop, attention to detail and professionalism.

Did a top class, faultless job in good time frame. They do work for specialist vehicle at Hursts inc. Ferrari, Aston Martin etc.

A bit expensive at £72 for a kerbing repair which I was told I may as well do the whole wheel. Top class job though.

I've recently had 6 alloys refurbed by Lester Engineering in Lisburn.

They are truly a fantastic job, especially given some of the corrosion on the inside of the alloys.

Great value for money too ~ £60 Ex Vat for 17" wheels.

Was that per wheel or for the whole job?

Any pics?

thats dear enough, id be looking for an oem finish

As Pablo said its not that dear and it is an OEM finish if not better.

If you are getting quotes, do confirm how they refurb a wheel. Without dissing @pablo some companies are doing a fancy version of what he does (see his diy wheel refurb thread).

Lester Engineering are a tyre off, refurbish inside and out company, doing it properly.

I wasn't after a cheap, quick job.

if you want oem its not that dear.

Exactly my thinking too :grinning:.

Bit of a thread bump, but was there a crowd that were offering wheel repair on just the face/edge of the alloy?

My 19's have some kerbing rash, no gouges but need a freshen up and it seems daft to pay £80/90 to get them fully refurbed.

Friend in work bought these rims for his Audi A4. They're in good shape apart from some slight kerb damage.

Would the whole wheel need refurbished, or just the damaged area repaired?

Remember watching that rags to riches program, and a mobile alloy repair guy came out to repair rims. Take it there's nothing similar in Northern Ireland?

Cheers

yeah there are a few kicking about - I always see mobile alloy repair outfits coming out to CMV motors down the road from my work
I think this is one of them:

http://www.smartalloybelfast.co.uk

I was thinking of just refurbing the RS6's on my A3 and a mobile outfit would be handy. I would want a half decent job done...not sure how good the mobile outfits are though....

EDIT - I've just looked at this place's customer testimonials and there's one from RMS on it LOL!!

Anyone know if nitromorse would lift lacquer of a diamond cut finish? I need to strip it off the flat spokes of a set of wheels.

Thanks. Where can I get it? Does B&Q do it just?

Just reading a few reports on here that the recent stuff isn't as potent as the older stuff?

If painted on does it creep or stay specific to where it was applied? I've to do the faces of the spokes but want the sides to remain untouched.

Yeah b&q will have it.
New formula isn't half as good as the older stuff.
The older formula would creep, not sure about the new formula as I have only ever applied it to the whole face of alloys including the sides of the spokes.

I imagine using nitromorse it's going to be hard to remove the lacquer from the face of the spokes only.

Cheers

There's a definitive edge to the spokes, I'll just keep it a little further back.

Nitromoris is rubbish now tried it on a set of wheels which have paint flacking off them and it didnt take much more off.

But try it and see if it works on them just stop before the spokes then take time to sand it down to the edge with different grits of sandpaper.
