Apple Carplay in an old Audi

I've a 2009 Audi A6 (C6) which I bought off @Darren91 earlier in the year. I love it, well apart from the mpg but gotta feed the horses I guess.

The MMI is pretty decent in it (for a 13yr old car) and it streams music through a Tune2Air thingamyjig, however there's some things which annoy me a little and I'm wondering if there are any other options?

Little things like I can only search names on my phone by last name, and inputting addresses in the satnav is a bit clunky. Also during a call the bluetooth sometimes randomly disconnects from my phone and I've to add the phone again - might be a firmware thing but not 100% sure.


I think I seen a thread on here about someone putting Carplay in a Q5 or something similar?

Has anyone done this and is it easy enough to do? I can't even figure out what all I'd need nd costs involved.

Any functionality lost? I'd want to be able to keep the existing DAB and for the climate and heated seat controls to still appear when I adjust them.

I’ve been looking for the same thing for my Merc. You can get a module that plus into the changer port and gives you the additional functions. How well it would work might depend on the screen you have. I“ll try and find the link as I’m pretty sure they do VAG, BMW and Merc

I'd fit this for complete stand alone audio and bypass the MMi in older cars:

Or if you have no love for a huge screen, go for a single din version. Don't forget the facia bits and dab antenna

That wee screen might just default to time and date as per other cars if they don't get the connection to the original stereo. It's best to go with the RS nav solution if that's a sticking point for you. I drive a Skoda so don't care about redundant screenage! In truth, I don't have any extra screens.

Theres a guy on there called 'Krzysztof Moryc' that specialises in this stuff. I know your car isnt a C7 A6 but he covers different models and years and he'd be able to give you pointers and an idea of price for doing what you're hoping to do
