Can the pump/ shaft/ broken part be replaced if the engine hasn't started knocking and turbo is still ok?

Oil light came on just at the end of the road. Think my mum drove it about a mile with the oil light on.

a mile with no oil pump is a lot.

As to what damage there is...you simply wont know either until you strip it, or fix the pump and take your chances.

Usually get away just putting in a new hex key, the turbo usually goes a few days later though I find.

I replaced the drive in an A6 a few years ago after it rounded off and it’s still going strong. It was around £3 for the drive from TPS and a couple of quid for a bag of the wee circlips that hold it in place as they couldn’t be bought individually.

This company do the upgraded kits, can exchange your own when buying iirc. Some kits have the 77mm hex key or 100mm, think you need to know this when purchasing so you get the right kit
